above average but not a four star
by TripAdvisor Member alexia05
the hotel was not bad but it had some negative points. let's start with the good points. the room is very big and clean. the hotel is very close to the grote market.
the bad points are: firstly, it is over-priced. i paid 143 euros a night and i must say it was not worth that much. i travel very frequently and i never pay that much for a room and i usually stay in better quality hotels than this one. for example, i stayed a couple of days later at the renaissance in brussels for 100 euros a night and it was not comparable. of course, i must say all the hotels in brugge are expensive for some reason. i don't understand why. this is the reason i picked this one because it was one of the cheaper 4 -stars. of course i don't know why it is a 4-star, maybe because of the pool? the main problems of this hotel are that the breakfast is very poor and the public areas like the lounge. it doesn't have that 4-star feel. i think if they charged a little less it would be a very good choice, not 143 euros. the parking was good though. only 13 euros a night which is not bad.
so overall i would say, if you get a better rate than i did, go. if not look at some other choices.
Hotel Navarra is Excellent

This really is an excellent hotel that is centrally situated for seeing all the sights in Bruges.
It is literally 3 minutes walk from the main market yet situated in a quiet street.
The rooms are spacious and clean. I would have no hesitation in using this hotel again.
Breakfasts are substantial with some cooked and plenty continental style. Bar is friendly and every drink is served with cake and chocolates!! Prices are not too bad neither.
Good Location - nothing special about rooms

We stayed at the hotel for 3 days in March. We booked a Eurostar break which included the train and hotel. The hotel is located very close to the main square which is a great advantage. We had a very small room on the 2nd floor but it was recently renovated and very clean. Decor is brown and cream and very much a business hotel type room with trouser press! The bed was a standard double - mattress not very comfortable. Shower in the bathroom is over the bath with no shower curtain but a wall either side - still possible to soak the floor if you are not careful. Not great water pressure. We had an external fire escape outside our window and each morning at 7am several builders would walk outside our bedroom windows to climb the scafolding to begin work. They did not talk, but the noise of their boots on a metal walkway may wake you up! Some of the rooms are still being renovated - not sure how long this will take. One morning there was no hot water- reception provided a key to another room for the use of the bathroom. This room was on the main corridor and was at least twice the size of our room! If you can afford to - upgrade to a larger room. Breakfast was buffet type with bread, cheese and 2 cereals. Hot food was scrambled eggs and sausages and boiled eggs. Did not eat any hot food - looked rather dry. Only 30% occupancy during our stay- so very quiet. Goes up at weekends. Ask for a tea tray at reception - nowhere else to get a hot drink outside ot breakfast hours. Bar very quiet most nights- should stay open till 12am but barman usually closed it by 11pm and went home! Not a happy type! In conclusion - an average hotel in a good location with helpful staff, but if you want some luxury and atmosphere, stay somewhere else.
Lovely Hotel

We stayed at the hotel between the 31 March-3 April for a long weekend.
The staff were really friendly and very helpful. The room we stayed in was basic, but clean. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was a decent size.
The location was perfect as it was a 2 minute walk to the main Market Square. The hotel had a list of resturants that were highly recommended, and we picked two, which were really nice. You have to try Carlitio's and the Indian resturant.
The hotel made the holiday that extra special and we would definately stay there when we go back.
