Gastenkamers Chambres-D'Hotes

Loved this place. Someone in America rated it one of the top ten value B&Bs in Europe. Not that that means a great deal based on some other similar ratings I have noted at times.
Apart from the typical European spiral staircase, conceived well before the time when luggage was carried upstairs, the rooms were well appointed and everything worked. There was also a nice aspect from my room over the garden.
The breakfast was filling and varied so you won't starve and the hosts were genial and spoke reasonable English.

Unique Quality: I loved the atmosphere. The objet d'art gathered by mine host Koen attracted my attention every morning as I wandered down for breakfast.
He had a series of etchings, all bar one to do with music as he actually taught the flute. Many were historic prints, some from the 16th century and he had collected them over a period of time from markets and auctions.
The dining room itself contained many paintings and other oddities which used to catch my gaze every morning in between discussions with the other guests. Quite enchanting.

A: "No idea about the first part of your post. I don't see why you couldn't go and have a meal or a coffee or something. Or even go and just wander round the grounds...."
