Can you catch a train from brugge to London direct or do you have to thru Brussels

Re: Can you catch a train from brugge to London direct or do you have to thru Brussels.

Yes, there are trains direct to London St. Pancras

These trains must be reserved in advance but are not bookable on the internet. You can see the schedules on this page.

If the exact page doesn't come up use the intro page and put in your details: (I used a Monday as an example.)

Through Brussels

UnaS - check the fine print - Brugge to Brussels Midi, where you change to the Eurostar for the trip to London. It is not a direct train...

by unaS

Right but on one ticket and with the change expected. It is not as if you have to go to Brussels first and then get a train to London. Guess it depends on how you read the question :)

I think the OP's earlier question may clarify a bit:

There are no direct Brugge - London trains. You have to go either via Brussels or Lille. There is a train every hour from Lille to Brugge (with one change depending on time of departure) but you need to transfer from Lille Europe to Lille Flandres to get it. Via Brussel is more convenient, as for a small surcharge your Eurostar ticket is valid to any Belgian station. From Brussel there is a train to Brugge every half hour.

It might however be that you can get a far cheaper Eurostar ticket to Lille, so it might be worth investigating.

Travel Tips for Brugge

Homecooked mussles. MMMMMMMMMM.

by Dizzyhead

Well, if you ever get home to any Belgian family... Ask them to make mussels and it is so delicious. I miss it a lot and if you can go home to anyone, you ask them very kindly if they can make this dish for you! Otherwise you have to order it in a restaurant.

Simply enjoy the place....

by steventilly

Explore it, wander the streets, follow the canals, seek out all the old city gates, sit outside cafes, sample Belgian beer - but don't rush the place. The complete and utter charm of the place, 'chocolate box' views around every corner (and chocolate shops on every corner).

City of history!

by adinda

Brugge is loved by American people because it's such an old city. Lots of 14-15-16-17th century buildings. So just take a stroll through the city and feel past times catch up with you. Check out www.brugge.be for tourist information.

See the Tango Club of Bruges at the Fish Market

by ranger49

I was told that the Fish Market - Vismarkt sells fish early every morning except Sunday and Monday. The only activities I saw there during our short break were a craft/flea market - and an exhibition of Tango dancing.
It is quite an elegant building dating from the early 19th century with colonnaded and covered roof sides, around an open square.- Thankfully there was no lingering smell of fish!

On dry, summer evenings the Tango Club of Bruges meets to dance in the square.
We happened to be passing by on a Sunday evening and stopped to watch a while. We arrived just as the guest dancers were introduced; they danced to recorded music but I was told that there is sometimes live music.
I am no expert but they seemed rather good and had much appreciation from a sizeable audience which gathered around.

The last piece of Lori's lace.

by Waalewiener

As a recap on these tips I want to tell you all that the texst next to the pictures of Lori's Lace pieces are not neccesary related to the Lace pieces. The texst is taken out of an old Encyclopedia. The six pieces of Lace are used around our house in various places and we thought this made a nice in formative page about a Local custom in Belgium that has been around forever I think.
