Playground for kids
On the beach there is an area where kids feel at home. It is kind of a special children’s playground, they can climb and jump on air castles. Swim in a bath full of coloured balls . . .

No specific Question but see nobody talking about it.
I went there last summer as a diversion from driving up the A16 from France. What a great quiet little place and what a magnificent beach..
There are those that will disagree but it was well worth the deviation
Hope you shot some photos and build a page to share with us. that'd be real interesting. come on , convince us to visit this little treasure you speak about!
:-)
oh thank you for reminding me of La Panne! Used to go there a lot many years ago, great dunes and invigorating ocean air! Especially, great restaurant on the Promenade. I fell in love with the North Sea there. But I was young and crazy and my pics are too personal. hahaha.
De Panne and nearby St-Idesbald/Koskijde are, in my opinion, among the best towns you can visit on the Belgian coastline. The latter is also home of the Belgian surrealist painter Paul Delvaux. For those who like to walk rather than stay on the beach all day : you can take a really nice stroll in this area, there are quite a few routes, especially in De Panne.

... which is why we don't talk about it :-) :-) :-)
Strangely, a lot of Belgians going that way like to walk along the French coast a bit to avoid the "appartment skyline".
Also try Koksijde next time; it's more relaxed and has an equally nice beach.

As you can see, you can also rent seats with or without a sunshades.
Depending what the time is (am or pm) and how long you want to rent, will actually determine the price you will have to pay.
On the beach road there is a small basketball field.
So if you want to throw a ball, go ahead.
This reminded me a bit on the beach of Venice, L.A. where you have Muscle beach, and where there is also a basketball field, where local boys throw balls. a basketball
At the corner of beach road and Dr A Depagelaan stands the former Grand Hotel de L'Ocean.
During World War I, this hotel was used as a front hospital, it was opened on December 21th 1914 and run by the Belgian Red Cross.
There was room for 1800 patients. During this war more than 20.000 patients were helped here.
There is still a Remembrance plate for The Belgian Queen Elisabeth, who was a nurse here during this First World War
This is a popular seaside resort in Belgium along the North Sea. Unlike most similar cities, you can walk on its huge beaches which are very clean and peaceful. There aren’t too many people on it so that there is no noise around you. So you can easily meet new friends and make contacts. For children, they run no risk of getting hurt thanks to the soft sand. Consequence, this is very pleasant.
Moreover, there are a lot of lifeguards who keep your kids safe by watching over the beach all the time. So, it’s possible to read a book or talk with anybody, without any anxiety about the children, and therefore to spend nice summer holidays (because you know that you are safe). The security is good in La Panne as on all Belgian shores. Currently, the safety is becoming scarce in the world except at La Panne !
There are also "Game centres" where your children can enjoy during hours at new and old arcade games. What can you do otherwise? You may rent a bicycle or a “cuistax” (a kind of "four-cycle" for families or friends “Made in Belgium”). It’s cheap and funny to go along the beach on the dam and discover the charm of Belgium.
