Travel Tips for De Panne

Intelligent dogs

by filipdebont

I think that the dogs are very special in De Panne, you could even say they are remarkably intelligent.

Well, they have placed signs on the beach, so that the dogs know how to behave.

Like on this picture, you can see that dogs aren't allowed on the beach, and the doggy toilet is to the left.

Look around

by filipdebont

It is important to look around first, as there are different prices and different formulas.

It can be handy to ask a tip in the hotel where you stay, maybe they know someone who rents these cabins, and like this you can get a kind of discount.

You'll never know, if you do not ask for it, you will never know.

Theme park,...

by joaodaconceicaonunes

There is one fun fair for kids west of the centre : Plopsaland. Luckily, the tram stops dead in front of the area. There is also a bowling alley near this theme park or a place for rollerblading and skating at the East side (for those who like it).

Konijnenweg

by filipdebont

In the right corner of the Koning Albertplein, leaves a small road. You only can access this road by bike or on foot.

This small road has the typical name: Konijnenweg (Rabbit road). Maybe because it goes straight over and through one of the former dunes, a bit like the rabbit pipes in the dunes.

I must tell you that parts of this road are pretty steep, as I did certain parts on foot with my bike on my hand (I was with an ordinary city-bike, so not with a race bike or a mountain bike).

Along this small road you can see several beautiful old villas.

De Panne

by myriam_c

These beach-cabins on wheels are very typical for De Panne and the westcoast. I don't think I've seen them in other resorts at the Belgian seaside.

Sunset on the beach is always a lovely spectacle to watch.

... 'cause these are MY footprints !!!!
Knowing that I live next to the Dutch border, De Panne is a seaside resort at the other side of the country, at the French border. It has the widest beach of the Belgian seaside. French is widely spoken and there are many French tourists overthere. Most probably for the excellent (sea)food! ;)
