Where can I look for a budget accomodation in Kotrijk or near this town? I'm going to spend around 40/45 euros per bead and breakfast.

Hello Maurizio!
There are a lot of good hotels in Kortrijk, but if you are planning to visit Brugge as well, i think it would be best to take an accommodation in Brugge. Kortrijk is less than an hour train ride from Bruges. Perhaps you can e-mail the tourist office of Brugge for some brochures (www.brugge.be). You can also find some accommodations from their website.

then I bookmark because I might have to find a place too.
I have to check if the trains from Kortrijk to Bruges run late, if not then it is better to stay in Kortrijk.
I am not sure if the prices in Bruges are less then Kortrijk?

DE BROEL TORENS - These towers date back to the Middle Ages. They are the oldest remaining parts of the city fortifications. The southern tower, called 'Speyetoren' (12th century), was part of the ramparts of the Castle. The northern tower, called 'Inghelborchtoren', was especially built for the defence by means of primitive artillery. On the bridge, there is the statue of Saint Nepomucenus, patron saint of the drowned people. We cross the bridge and go to the left. Now, we are walking along the Broelkaai.
Good beer guide to Belgium

As the title suggests a guide to the beers brewed i Belgium and good places to try them. In Kortrijk it took us to "De Klokke" on Grotemarkt and not disapointed.
The book is written by Tim Webb and is available from Camra in the UK.
Maiden of Flanders

One of the most noteworthy monuments in Kortrijk is the "Maiden of Flanders", the monument erected in commemoration of the Battle of the Golden Spurs, that took place in Kortrijk on 11th July 1302. Flemish noblemen and Flemish corporations from Bruges and other Flemish cities succeeded in obtaining a (rather bloody) victory over the knights of the French King Philip the Beautiful.
The golden spurs of the defeated knights where hung in the Church of Our Lady of Kortrijk as a sign of triumph by the Flemisch. Fact is, that this victory over the French ensured the everlasting independence of Flanders towards France.

There are also lots of modern buildings in Courtrai, like e.g. the new 'Palace of Justice' (on the picture), the new buildings of the university of Courtrai, the new wing of the Hospital next to the borders of the River Leie etc.
Cowboy Henk

You can see this Cowboy Henk statue along the Spoorweglaan in Kortrijk.
I had seen this statue in a program on a local TV-channel. So went to Kortrijk to see it, but I did not find it, at first I thought it was located at the Hoge. But later on with some help from the Touristy department of Kortrijk, I did find him.
Cowboy Henk has a leading role in his own comic strip.
Cowboy Henk is drawn by Herr Seele and the scenarios are made by Kamagurka.
You also can follow the stories of Cowboy Henk in the weekly periodical Humo.
This picture is made beginning of January, that is why Cowboy Henk is wearing a red Santa Claus hat.
