Youth Hostel in Kortrijk

Two nights in the Kortrijk youth hostel in May 2009.- €27 a night for one person in a single room, less if there are more of you. Very pleasant staff and clean rooms. The hostel was formerly a boarding school and the buildings do look school like and some of them are used for local community groups and meetings. The car park was full with Judo mums and dads when I arrived.

The rooms and shared showers are clean. The rooms look like the old boarding room accommodation, similar to my student hostel a few years back. Storage is limited to a wardrobe style space without a door. There is a wash basin in each room. There are no cooking facilities for guests but there is a small kitchen with plates and glasses that could be used if you brought your own stuff with you.

Breakfast was pleasant with a buffet of cereal, bread, fruit and yoghurt + tea, coffee and fruit juice.

It was the least expensive accommodation for one in Kortrijk. For two people or more I think the Ibis in the centre of town was worth the few extra Euros.

Unique Quality: I think the way it is in its own grounds is a bonus that makes you feel that you are away from the town centre. 15 minutes walk from the train station and the delights of Kortrijk old town centre.
