This three-master builded in 1931 - cost about 75.000 euro that time-and weight about 800 tons.
It was used by the belgian Navy until 1960 - as from that date it serves as a kind of museum - floating al over the world !!
st. peter and st. paul's church
by banshee11
when you arrive in oostende you can see the twin towers of this impressive church. this neogothical church was built in 1904-1905. the use of sandstone sets it apart from other churches in the province of west-flanders that are mostly entirely built with bricks. inside the church is the mausoleum for belgium's first queen louise-marie who died in oostende in 1850. the stained-glass windows show the portraits of different belgian kings
Beach Houses
by singel
In the month of april, locals can bid in a kind of auction for the rent of a small beach cabine. It costs up to 1000 euro's (and more). Some people even have a cooking device so that they don't have to leave the beach at noon. Sometimes young travellers sleep between the cabines, although it's forbidden.
Cook Shrimps
by singel
In summertime, it's possible to go to sea on a boat with a real fisherman to catch shrimps and to learn to cook them.
What tastes better than your own catch?
As soon as I find the adress again, I'll note it here.
