De Ploate-Youth Hostel -Jeugdherberg De Ploate: Youth Hostel - De Ploate Oostende
Didn`t stay here but I tried to book and I found I
couldn`t book online and was told it was often full in season.
Anyway sometimes a Youth Hostel is a much cheaper alternative
than hotels as very hard to get a hotel room under 50 Euro a night,
whereas a YH can be as cheap as 20-25 Euro.
A Youth hostel close to the sea
Situated along the Langestraat (Long Street) where there are plenty
of places to eat, bars and night clubs.
Oostende is called "the queen of cities at the sea".
It is the biggest city at the Belgian coast & has a lot
to offer to visitors f.eks. museums, shops, restaurants.
The hostel is located only 300m away from the beach.
You can visit the "Mercator" - a former trainingvessel
(sailing) from the Belgian navy or wander around looking
at the yachts. Guided tours by the Marine Ecological centre
can be booked through the hostel.
Family rooms available
Breakfast included in price
Sheets included in price
Credit cards accepted
Individual traveller welcome
Non smoking room/area
Basic store available at or near the hostel
Rates include local tax

Avenue Studiotel: Great value and recommended for families
This was a great find. 5 of us (3 Adults & 2 boys) stayed here in an apartment within the hotel for 2 nights October 2000 - with private facilities, including kitchenette with hob, fridge, microwave etc. The room was perfectly adequate and the price was exceptional considering the party @ 50 Euros per night. It was really the best of both worlds as breakfast was included but you had the benefit of a self catering layout too. The staff were extremely polite and helpful & the hotel, which also has the usual single, double, triple and quad rooms had a great location, only 100m from the beach but close to the town centre. Parking was free when we stayed. I would definitely stay here again.

't Mespuntje: A pillow for a weary head
Tiny bar in a side street with rooms above at € 25.00. The room I had was up a steep narrow staircase, and included bathroom with shower - though the plumbing was interesting!
Nothing special. Just clean and comfortable.
