More about Bloom

Amazing

by TripAdvisor Member Kit24

I stayed at the Hotel Bloom last week and it was amazing. They are undergoing some refurbishments, so I don't know what it used to be like, maybe that is why there have been some bad reviews. I stayed on the 2nd floor in room 226 (the new part) the room was immaculate, the bed was really comfy and there was a flat screen TV. The bathroom was modern and there were nice toiletries. All of the rooms on the 2nd floor have murals on the walls by different artists and I think that they are planning to do the same to every room in the hotel. The reception staff were friendly and the barman was nice. The breakfast was really lovely. The town centre is only 10 minutes walk away and it is not too noisy.

A good alternative to boreign chain hotels

I chose this hotel because my usual hotel where I stay in Brussels (Hotel Café Pacific) was fully booked. Since I like modern hotels my eyes caught their website and I decided to stay at hotel Bloom. Hotel is good situated, just around the corner of metro station Botanique. 10-15 min walking from the train station North (Noord). The reception is very light and modern. I had a L panorama room. This was a newly renovated room. Great Brussels views, light room and very comfy bed. Though I was quite dissapointed with bathroom. It is clean and ok but does not go with a new design of the hotel. They did renovated rooms but they sure could do better job in bathrooms! Still, I liked the hotel and it's extra's: senseo coffee machine, free wifi and nice bath products. There is a fridge which is not filled with anything( two free bottle waters) so, just go to supermarket and get the stuff you want to. Definately will use this hotel on my next trips. They are still under renovation and gym will be opened begin next year.

Love the wall design

by TripAdvisor Member Joynifer

I booked a room for one night at Hotel Bloom! My partner and I forgot to bring a map of the hotel with us. Fortunately, the hotel's easy to spot when we got out of the Botanical Garden underground station.
The overall decor is clean and hip. Reception staff were friendly but it took quite a long time to check in/out when there're many guests.
Our double room on 3rd floor looks nice. The room is clean and new. I love the lovely wall design of flower bulbs. The light green carpet feels soft and goes well with the wall. Bed is comfy. There're complimentary tea/coffee as well as fizzy & still water in fridge (no minibar, though). Free internet access is available in room.
We didn't try breakfast at the hotel since it is additional EUR 20 per person.
Grand Place is around 15 minutes away on foot.
We enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it to our friends.

I've been in the Royal Crown Hotel in Brussels with 2 friends of mine last week-end, and we had a reservation for a triple room made with our travel agency ABREU in Portugal. Since the beginning there were problems! In the hotel they hadn't the room reserved - it doesn't matter if we had shown the voucher - we had to wait for 30/45min to them to get us a room. Surprisingly, when we arrived at the room, it was a DOUBLE room. After complain they get us other DOUBLE room. At last, with another complaint, we got a triple room with just two towels and a sheath for two. We asked in the reception for towels and sheaths for the third person right away. We passed there for 2 nights/3 days, and we never saw what we asked. Is important to mention that we contact with 3 receptionists, and no one cared about it. If anyone is thinking about getting in this hotel, take a luggage of patience with you...you'll need it!

Great hotel - would recommend!

by TripAdvisor Member CaffTwo

I stayed at the Royal Crown Hotel Brussels with my partner for four nights and would really recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to stay without paying 5 star prices. Our room was lovely - clean, bath/shower, spare bedding and pillows, massive bed, 28" widescreen flatscreen TV, fridge that was restocked daily with still/sparkling water free of charge, and free wireless (and mostly reliable!) internet access throughout the hotel.

The hotel is only a 20 minute walk from the city centre and the Gare du Nord/Gare Centrale, but there is a tram/bus/metro stop right next door (Botanique) that will take you to most places for a couple of Euros one way.

The slight downsides for us were the pricey breakfast and the fact that the restaurant didn't seem to be open in the evenings when we were there. However there was a vending machine available for a quick (and cheap!) grab-and-go alternative to breakfast (packetted waffles, breakfast bars, crisps, soft drinks etc), and in the evenings you could either eat in the bar (which was open although the menu was fairly limited) or take a 20 minute wander to the area around Grand Place which is literally teaming with places to eat - can particularly recommend L'Altro Mondo as an excellent and value-for-money restaurant if you like Italian :)

The hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment/modernising - I can only assume our room was one of the already refurbished - so it can only improve and we would certainly go back there again in the future.

Totally Dreadful

by TripAdvisor Member JamesofBath

The hotel is undergoing refurbishment. If you choose to upgrade to a new room you will get a minimalist stark bare white room with dodgy electrics and few comforts - rather like moving into a new build home which the developer 'hasn't quite finished yet' (ha ha!) but at least being new it should be clean, oh and you'll pay a hefty premium on the pre-booked rate as the hotel seems to be deliberately using confusion to increase profit. The old rooms are the worst I've ever seen in forty years of travel and are a joke beyond belief (and truly not a funny one). This hotel should only offer the new rooms to clients and refurbish the rest or they could be finding themselves in the grips of a law suit. Do not book on the web.

a hotel with a split personality

by TripAdvisor Member jeez0

Was initially very disappointed by this hotel.
Service very poor.
Had to wait in lobby for 1 hour as receptionist "had forgotten that we were there", even though for the best part of that hour we were the only customers in the lobby and had been pacing about a bit.
When we did get keys the room was a grey and gold early eighties rat pit, like something from a david lynch film. To sleep in that room would to be to know true fear. It was not the modern interior advertised online and everywhere else.
Asked for an upgrade, got one reasonably enough, but did have to haggle.
Sent back upstairs with the keys to another customer's room. NICE!
Went back down, complained, given another key which did not match up to the room number written in the key fob/ wallet thing.
After a total of 90 minutes we got into our room, was beautiful, everything i had expected.
Did not think that all of the hassle to get into this room was worth it, and proved to be a bad start to our holiday.
