Travel from Brussels to Wolfsburg in Germany

by Affy1971

Hi, would be most grateful if I could get some advice please on the best / cheapest way to travel from Brussels to Wolfsburg in Germany ?

The train from Brussels via Cologne then on to Wolfsburg is one option but this does seem to work out very expensive at about 166 euros for a return ticket.

Is there a cheaper way of doing the journey ?

Many thanks in advance if anybody is able to help !

Where did you get that 166,- quote from? For a return this is not very expensive btw...

When traveling by train to Germany the best place to plan and book is the German railways. www.bahn.de
Your best option is the ICE Brussel - Köln and then another train to Wolfsburg. Prices start at 39,- if booked in advance. That price sells out quickly though. Normal price one way is about 110,- Best is probably the 7:25 departure in Brussels, as that gets you to Wolfsburg in less than 6 hours.
The other option is to take the Thalys service to Köln, and change for another train there. However the DB site can't quote you a price on that. You can look up times and prices for Thalys on www.thalys.com, and then look up and book Köln - Wolfsburg on www.bahn.de

Hi K V B

Many thanks for your quick response

I've checked the options you describe and the cheapest I can find is 72 Euros from Brussels to Cologne and 108 Euros from Cologne to Wolfsburg.

I'll keep looking, thanks again for the reply.

If you are in Brussels for a first time and haven't had a chance to prepare an itinerary, you will probably end visiting the Grand-Place on you first day.
Which is actually good, since the Tourist Office is right there, in the Town Hall.

Marollen

One of the most distinctive areas in Brussels is called 'Marollen'. It's in the process of being renovated, so pay a visit while you can. You can get there by going to metro station Halpoort or go to the Palace of Justice and take the elevator down. It's especially beautiful at night.

It is the bourse . the stock exchange

by chancay

Thanks to Marie-Claude from Montreal I finally know what I am presenting here as a impressive old building in Brussels....well, it is the bourse. I only passed by that building by public bus and took this snap shot quickly. It is a bit funny, I think there wer already some belgium people seeing my page but nobody could tell me what it is...;-)) the travellers often know more of a place than the people who live there ;-)
