    I arrived just after 11am but my room wasn’t ready so I checked my bag and headed out to do the tourist thing. No problems checking in later though my carry-on bag and I filled the elevator going up to the room. I was looking forward to the art in the room and there was some nice pieces in the hallway, but I wasn’t overwhelmed by the exhibit in my room. In fact, the room was a bit shabby and the bed sagged. Strangely there was no shower curtain. The room looked out onto a small side street so there was no view except the Hilton next door. It was a bit noisy downtown at night, as there seemed to be (police?) sirens ever five minutes or so. On the plus side, I slept well, taxes and breakfast were included so the internet quoted price was the total price I paid.

    In looking for a hotel in Brussels, my overriding desire was to find a reasonable room within easy walking distance to the north train station so that I could get to the bus station early the next morning. I found that room rates for this hotel varied wildly on different internet sites. The lowest I found at the time was on HRS (see below) but check around.

    • The Siru has been around for a while. Each room has been decorated by a different artist. Some loves it, some hates it. It’s a hotel that request an open mind.

    • Art Siru Hotel was great. A little slow at check in, but the room was very cute.

    Room decoration and layout are very original.

    The rooms in this hotel are decorated with the most interesting artwork! Our room had a fancy reversed compass rose on the ceiling and a mosaic on the wall.

    However, note that the rooms are fairly small and somewhat spartan.

    • We got the hotel through a package from gotoday.com but it would probably be less than $100 per night.

    The location was excellent. It was close to all the major attractions. You can walk along the rue nueve shopping street and it will end up in place brouckere (where the opera la monnie is located). Two minutes walk, further down the road, would up in the Grand Place. Furthermore, if you are too tired to walk you can take the Rogier Metro, which is right across the street from the hotel. If you have plans to visit the other country the North Station is also a three to five minute walk away from the hotel. The north station has numerous train connections to the south station (midi/zuidstation), which is where thalys and eurostar trains are located. Above all, the concierges/receptionists of the hotel are definitely some of the friendliests I had encountered. They happily gave us directions, tips on where to go and even made reservations on tours for us. Lastly, when some problems came up regarding charges on the minibar, they settled it so well. The room was nice too. The only problem was that there are no airconditioners (if you open the window it will be breezy though) and as of May 2002 there were constructions going on around the area, and you could hear the noises in the morning.

    • Cheaper than other hotels and better than hostels. But the only thing is that you have to take the bus and change to a tram to get to the city.

    • We booked with expedia and we had a good discount on the price.
    We arrived at 1 a.m. as the airplane was late. We had to take a taxi at gare du midi, as there was no metro after midnight. The hotel is situated in place Rogier, a very modern place, with some big and coloured skyscrapers.
    Our room was in the internal side, not on the road, so it was very quiet and minimalist.
    The bathroom was ok, althought not very new.
    Breakfast, included in the price, is self service, from 7 to 10. One day, at 9.30 we had to wait five-ten minutes before sitting as it was full.

    • Nice and very original decorated hotel. The rooms are not big, but comfortable at all.
    Check-in often slow....

    The surrounding aera is not very beutiful....big buildings, large avenue full of vehicles, noisy.
    About 20 minutes to Grand Place (going through the Rue Neuve). WARNING: at night, this street is dangerous and the hotel aera is full of prostitutes.

    • Hote located across the square from Metro station Rogier which is located north of the "Ilot Sacre" which is the city center. Convenient access to metro and trams, and within easy walking distance to places in the Ilot Sacre.
    The area is noisy at night time.

    The Hotel itself is peculiar. There is a strange *** smell in the "lounge" area, in which there is an internet access for 5 Euro's per hour (totally insane considering places near by charge 1.5 Euro per hour).

    The elevator is very small and can barely fit 2 people with bags.

    The rooms vary greatly in decor (decorated by artists) and size. My room was a decent size. The washrooms are decent and offer a decent shower.

    I had asked for a double bed but instead got two rather uncomfortable singles pushed together... had the single bed been comfortable then I atleast could of had a good night sleep.

    The price I payed was almost 100 CAD per night, and I feel that was still too much. I'd only stay here again if there was no other decent choice available.

    Rooms decorated by artists -- has potential to annoy.

    Built in 1932, but refurbished in the 1990's. Each of the rooms features work by a contemporary Belgian artist to varying and unusual effect - some mundane, others more nightmarish. Some would say it offers a better survey of contemporary art than any of the city's museums.
