Grand Suite in Brussels

The Hotel Astoria is a somewhat unassuming hotel on the Koningsstraat - not too far from all the sights near the Grand Place although it did require a 15 minute walk. Upon entering there is a grand, old style European atrium but there was a strange sense of calm - with very few people or hotel employees around. This was just fine but it did lend a sense of lost grandeur to the place.

However our room was very spacious, complete with a kind size bed in a nook, a sitting area, a desk, and a bank of built in closets and shelves. With soaring ceilings and French styling it definitely made us feel that we were in a European capital and gave us a calm retreat at the end of each day. The bathroom, unlike the cramped London bathrooms we had just come from, was spacious and elegant if not particularly modern.

Unique Quality: Old European Charm
Spacious room
Clean

Sofitel

Sofitel bought this hotel and tried to make their usual Sofitel class hotel.
In fact, the Astoria is an old hotel of rue Royale. Inside, you have old architecture. Rooms nad bathrooms are like in the 1800', what gives a kind of cachet.
Among all hotels of Accor Group in Brussels, it provides the best parking facilities. At all times, you will find a parking place around the hote.

Unique Quality: The old type of baths and beds.
The furniture and decoration reminds the 19th century.

The excellent champagne bar, with so many different grandes cuvees of Champagne, sometimes with names I never heart about.

A exceptional stay in a hotel in Brussel

The hotel Astoria is hidden on the street running from the Saint Michiel & Goedele Eastwards. Normally I stay in Brussels with friends or visit it from the Belgian countryside in combination with the country. Long time ago I stayed here and can say that it's a pleasant hotel. The entrance is spectacular, but the rooms are small, yet decent.
