Review of the Husa President Park Hotel in Brussels
by TripAdvisor Member Bartbc
Before travelling to this hotel, I was confused by the disparity of reviews. They were either high (4) or low (1). I think the reason for this simply has to do with the room. At first, we were assigned a room that was totally unacceptable for our two-week stay. After complaining, we were assigned a much better room with a view overlooking the park to the rear of the hotel.
Be prepared to walk the 15 minutes back and forth to the Brussels North Train Station if you plan to do any travelling by rail. There is a bus stop at the rear of the hotel and there is also a convenient market just behind the hotel.
Forget about using the lobby internet service at 15 euros per hour. I found a good internet service at the train station for 3 euros per hour and also an acceptable internet service not far from the hotel in a little shop for 1.25 euros per hour.
The hotel breakfasts which were included in the room price were very good; good selection and variety. The hours were very convenient from 6:30 until 10:30 am. The restaurant amnager is top-notch!
Our room was fairly large by European standards with a nice bathroom and plenty of hot water. The room was noisy, though, with very little soundproofing from hall noise. We were kept awake on weekend nights until the wee hours of the morning and it was quite disconcerting.
By Brussels standards, this hotel is VERY reasonably priced!! I came to this conclusion after being floored when I heard what other people were paying at centrally located hotels. Food prices are also very high in Brussels and Belgium in general, so be prepared for sticker shock at restaurants.
During our stay we travelled to Brugges, Ghent, Antwerp, Leuven, Mechelen and Oostende, in addition to visiting many of the sights in Brussels. Being near the North Train Station made it very convenient to take day trips.
Forget about any purported shuttle services provided by the hotel. They are non-existent. We took the train from the airport to North Station and walked to the hotel toting our luggage. It was only 3 euros each. However, our taxi ride back to the airport (we had to leave at 4:30 am) cost us 50 euros!!
This hotel has a four-star lobby with two-star rooms. Upgrades to executive class rooms are available for an extra 25 euros per night. Great if you're only staying for a few nights.
Overall, some caveats regarding the hotel but, for the money, in Brussels, it's a good value. I guess you have to keep in mind the context of travelling in Europe these days considering the declining US dollar. It was REALLY good to get back home!!
A perfectly pleasant stay

Having read some of the previous reviews, my partner and I were worried about what to expect from this hotel, but were pleasantly surprised. Yes, calling it a 4* might be stretching the imagination somewhat (it's more like a good 3*). However, we found our Standard room to be clean, spacious and reasonably well-equipped (TV, trouser press, mini-bar). Also, the staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. It is in the business district, so it's a good 30 minute walk to the Grand Place. However, it's just a 5 minute walk to the station, which is great if you want to see some of the other cities, such as Antwerp or Bruges. If you're wanting something more luxiourious, then the Sheraton or Hilton might be more suitable. They are also well located, but I'm sure this will be reflected in the price! For an affordable stay in a comfortable hotel, the Husa President Park is absolutely fine.
Great Hotel

I've stayed at quite a few hotels in Brussels for business and this one was very good. It is a corporate hotel, make no mistake of that, but the staff were very nice and helpful, the bedroom was lovely (massive bed and fantastic shower), breakfast was good and we also used the meeting room facilities which were also 1st class. For a single woman traveling on business i would have no problem recomending this hotel. Yes there is building work going on across the road but it did not disturb me or our meeting in any way, as for not having tea and coffee facilities in the rooms....I think there is something called room service.
October 2007

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on a weekend getaway in October. We booked through lastminute.com, as this hotel was advertised as a secret 4 star hotel. Had I know the name of the hotel prior to booking and read the review I probably would not have booked it.
Overall it wasn't as bad as some of the reviews indicated. We had a room which faced the gardens to the rear of the property rather than the construction occurring out the front of the hotel. The decor in the room needs updating. We had no problems with heat or noise, and found the room to be reasonably clean.
Distance from the centre of town was somewhat disappointing. Whilst it was not a problem for us to walk and probably not a bad idea given the amount of chocolate and frites consumed, it was approx a 30 min walk and could prove a challenge for older guests or those not the fittest, however there is the train station nearby.
I agree with another reviews comments that the lobby appears to be four stars but the rooms don't meet that standard. Perhaps this will be different when the renovations reach the guest rooms.
First impressions were good...

We arrived at the hotel and were very impressed by the overall look outside and in reception, even the bar was nice - what you would expect for a 4 star hotel.
We got to the room and it was nothing like the rest of the hotel, It looked like it had not been cleaned properly in a long time, stains on the floor, holes in bed cover, out of date decoration and some of the things listed when booking as being in our room as standard were not there! Also, random hairs in bathroom were not nice! The furniture was chipped as well.
Rude staff, poor quality rooms
by TripAdvisor Member Darsie
Reception staff practically ignored our questions, bar staff shouted at us for "relaxing too much" in the bar while waiting for our room to be cleaned. Room was old, sheets torn, heating did not work and it took 3 phone calls and 4 hours to get extra blankets! Location away from everthing and taxis are a hour wait! Never again..

Well, you could hop onto a train and travel for an hour to visit Brufges and/or gent, which are both beautiful and historic towns.
You'll find lots of info about to see, do and explore (and where to eat etc) in Brussels, Bruges, and Gent here:

Heading the other way, a trip to Aachen is possible.
Actually, I wouldn't even know where to find a chocolate factory in Brussels.

You can't visit a chocolate factory anyway, they aren't open to the public except sometimes for groups, by arrangement. There is loads of information about Brussels on VT and elsewhere on the web, you should not expect others to repeat/summarize it for you. If you give people a lead as to what does or doesn't (apart from "a load of monuments and chocolate factories") interest you, on the other hand, it might be possible to suggest something that fits your interests (beer? comic strip murals? ...?).

Brussels has lots of museums and other beautiful things.
Architecture: Horta Museum is a must see.
Churches: St. Kathelijne, Basiliek Koekelberg, St. Goedele etc.
Parcs: Warandepark, Jubelpark etc.
Pubs: Mort Subite, Cirio etc.
So what do you want to know about Brussels.
Please be more specific.
