Which country is best in April (for blue sky, clear weather)

Which country is best in April (for blue sky, clear weather)

Of the following, where would it most likely be better for the month of April (April 10-May1)

1) Switzerland (focusing on hiking, clear mountain views, or blue sky)
2) Austria (focusing on Western Austria, hiking, clear mountain views, or blue sky)\
3) Southeastern Germany (Munich, and the German alps)
4) Brussels (cycling, blue sky)
5) Amsterdam (cycling, blue sky, landscape photography)

Perhaps, a better question is which destination has the least rain in April, or the higher number of sunshine hours?

Thanks

p.s. If April is not a good time for either destination, can you recommend the month that's better for each place? (Not July/August of course, since it's too touristic, and not winter either, since I don't ski), but the dry, shoulder season with clear visibility, and blue sky (focusing on landscape photography, and outdoors).

Just don't say May, because I am going to Iceland (supposed to be the best time).

Thanks again

Over here we have a saying: "April macht was er will". April does what it wants. There is absolutely no way to know in advance what the weather will be like for each of the places you've mentioned. I live in Switzerland and the last couple of years we've both had heavy snow and t-shirt weather in April...

Anything is possible in April, very often you have the four seasons all in one single day. There is no way of telling now where there will be the least amount of rain.

For Amsterdam and Brussels I advice half May. Not to warm/cold and not so many tourists .
Happy travels.

Brussels is not crowded in July because most Belgians are on vacation, either at the Belgian coast, either in the South of Europe.

As for the weather nobody can tell you (not the Belgian meteo at more than 2-3 days, and even not the IPCC - GIEC !).

Brussels doesn't have a "dry, shoulder season", and in my opinion it is impossible to predict what April will be like in any of the places you mention. It is not for nothing that there is a song called "April Showers", but to be honest, it can rain any time in Belgium. Incidentally, I also would NOT recommend cycling in Brussels unless you have a death-wish (this isn't Amsterdam!) - and I'm afraid blue sky can't be guaranteed for days in a row even in July or August although those would be the most likely months. September can be nice but then it can also rain every day, it is just impossible to tell. I think you are going to have a hard time predicting a perfect time for NW Europe, our weather is just too changeable.

Gaminari is right; cycling in Brussels is a way of sel-euthanasia.

I have a question for you KVB: how did you manage to get a VT rank of 485 with Gold Star, having no home page and not one single tip written by you?

by mayasmin

Grand Place on a Friday or Saturday afternoon and night. You could see numerous street acts on the square. Stay in there until the night to see the whole place lit up and more people gathering to meet friends, etc. The cafes were great places to just people watch while eating (try some of those delicios waffles or pralines - especially that of Leonida's). The food - waffles, chocolates, chicken, lasagna, etc. All the restaurants we went to have cheap and delicious food.

The best you'll find in Brussels is the 'Grande Place'. Unlike other Belgian cities, the capital has changed a lot because of its importance in the European Union ans as an important city. That means that has lost a part of the 'charm' that you'll find in other Belgian villages... however, only the Grande Place is good enough to forget this: it's really beautiful to see those great buildings, the incredible gothic Townhall... and the houses of (métiers). For example, the 'King of Spain's House' a very interesting brewery in the heart of Brussels.

Here and there you can spot some big mural on many buildings and walls around the city. They are more than 30. These represent many cartoons characters. Probably these paintings were created to improve some areas in Brussels.

Stained glas windows

Catholic churches are typically designed with themed stained glass windows. When we entered St. Jean Baptiste church, we saw this one on the right side from the altar. Pointing out such an art like this with a friend while silently walking inside church.

see the Saint Hubertus Gallery’s.
The first stone of this gallery was lay down by Leopold I at May 6th, 1846.
The galleries form a large glazed passage from 212 meters long, 8 meters wide and 18 meters high.
The design is from Cluysenaer.
Busts and statues are decorating the interior and are ascribed to the sculptor Jaquet. This is the first gallery with shops, restaurants and theatres.
