A few questions

by Dalyboy

Hi all,
Im traveling to brussels on the 29th of febuary and landing mid afternoon at charleroi airport,im staying at the hilton brussels city hotel,i am wondering what would be the best way in which to travel to the hotel? i had first thought taxi but have been told this would cost 90 euros each way which is quite expensive,is there a good rail link? would it be easy enough to find if i hired a car? i dont speak the language which might cause a problem should i get lost lol, also has anyone got any recomendations on places to go,see,eat,do? any replies would be greatly appreciated.

With thanks

Ryan

man, when u'll be at Brussels South Airport (situated in Charleroi), take the bus link directly at the airport vicinity to Brussels. It's only 7 euros and you'll reach the centre of Brussels from which the Hilton Hotel is a couple of minutes on foot; if you don't find it, ask passers-by, they will helpyou, Belgians are very nice, u'll see for urself;

don't forget 2 taste our local beers!

cheers
Gautier

And as to not knowing the languange : due to all the European institutions in town, English has become the second language in Brussels (even before Dutch...), so don't worry about making yourself understood - it won't be a problem at all !

The Hilton Brussels City Hotel is in Place Rogier near Gare du Nord. The coach link from Charleroi Airport drops you at Gare du Midi, if you take a taxi from there it will only be about 10 minutes away.
You can also take a local bus (68, I think) from Charleroi Airport to Charleroi Sud railway station, and a train from there to Bruxelles-Nord, which takes 57 minutes: there is a train roughly every half hour, final destination is Antwerp.
From Gare du Nord, take tne entrance to the town centre and walk 5 minutes, you will arrive in Place Rogier (with the pyramid) and on the left you will see your hotel.

Yes- and if you're there for a few days,I'd advise getting a subway train pass. We got a 3 day one for 8Euros.Great value.It covers trams as well.A great way to see the city.Just remember to click the ticket on the machine when you get on the bus.
