The Thon Hotel is a very comfortable hotel conveniently located to Place Rogier and the Gare du Nord which makes using public transportation very easy. I took the train from Gare du Nord out to Diegem - it takes about 20 mins - 5 min walk to train station and 15 min train ride. I stayed in an "executive" suite as that was the only available. To be an executive room - there was a small "sitting" room in the front with a small fold-away sofa, and only two single beds pushed together in the bedroom, but they were very comfortable. I was a little disappointed that there was a fee for the wireless access (Eur9.95 for an hour and Eur20 for 24 hrs), especially in an executive room! The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a small grocery store next door and a fridge in the room, so leisure travellers trying budget can save some money. For those with expense accounts or consider money no object there are many fine dining restaurants close by (Belga Queen is my favorite!) and a full English breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant; for the amount of money one would pay for the convenience of breakfast in the hotel (Eur15) I would recommend finding another spot for breakfast.
Unique Quality: I would recommend the Thon for the business traveller that wants convenience to Brussels Centre. A unique feature of the hotel is the amazing top floor dedicated to the relaxation centre complete with fitness room, sunbeds and sauna with panoramic view.
The Thon is situated in the heart of the European capital. Located in close proximity of the new business district, next to the World Trade Centre, the Belgian government area and the European Parliament. The Grand Place and cultural centre are only a 10-minute stroll away, accessible via 'La Rue Neuve' lined with shops, cafés and restaurants.
For the leisure traveller, I recommend searching the Thon Hotel site for their special offers (I've seen Eur62 night for a Classic room), also a great choice for exploring the inner city with the convenience of the train station close by for making daily excursions.
The hotel gives direct entrance to the 'Rogier' underground station for easy access to both business and tourist areas of the city. It is also within walking distance of the 'North' main line train station, where there are trains to and from Brussels Airport and connection to the International station of Eurostar and Thalys. A car park complex is located beneath the hotel. Immediate access to highways.
Directions: Place Rogier on the city's inner ring.
