Hidden behind the Sheraton

We stayed at the Thon for 2 nights. We came by car and although I knew where it was, we failed to see the hotel at the major street (Avenue du Boulevard) in front. The reason is just that the hotel is hidden behind the Sheraton hotel and the name is displayed in just small letters. Parking at the Manhattan Center parking garage at the back is no problem and the hotel has its own entrance from there.

The lobby is in the basement (1 level under the street level), and it also includes the bar and (breakfast) restaurant.

Elevators (there's a second set of them behind the heavily used upfront) bring you to your floor (It's a 23 stories building).

Rooms are small, but are fully equipped.

Unique Quality: The big market is within 30 minutes walking distance via the Nieuwstraat shopping street.

Good location...elegant...

I will defintely recommend this hotel..it's situated near the city centre, some 15 minutes of walk or otherwise 1-2 stations with metro...elegant, clean...friendly staff...check their website for special offers....otherwise it's expensive...and if'you're a fly+hotel type...it's possible to find some good deals..package is always better than separate arrangement

Right in downtown

Stay there for two weeks in Sept 04.
The room were the average EU standard (probably 20 to 25 M²), bathroom ok, Sat TV and Minibar (empty when I got the room).
Very average hotel but the location is everything in this case.
I was told that the company paid around 80 euros per night.

Unique Quality: Location by Place Rogier and city 2 (FNAC)
Easy public transport
Parking @ 13 euros per day.
Decent buffet breakfast

Tulip Inn

I stayed in this hotel in January 2005, and had to give a presentation.
Meeting facilities and lunch were good.

Satisfied: clean room with hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities, tv, etc.
As I was on the 14th floor, the windows could not open but there was airconditioning. Comfortable beds, good shower (although I heard otherwise as to the shower, from other people in my group.

Unsatisfied: the minibar was empty. The breakfast was 'just' adequate. Plenty of choice but the quality was poor: fake orange juice from a machine, the toaster only toasted on one side, scrambled eggs were yuck.
Unfortunately the hotel was not free of thieves. One person of our group had her bag stolen in the breakfast area, another person had seen it happen but had thought nothing about it (you don't at such a time realise the bag was actually being stolen).

What really pissed me is that I sent 2 emails prior to my visit because I needed some information. I did not get any reply, nor did the staff adequately react when I mentioned it on check-in.

The barkeeper was slow and not friendly.

Unique Quality: Okay then. Good parking underground (called Manhattan Center) with direct access to the hotel. 5% discount on the parking fee (13 euro for 24 hrs) if you're staying at the hotel.
20 minute walk through busy shopping street to the Grand Market (famous central square) in the old city centre.

Ok Hotel

This hotel from a Norwegian chain, is the biggest 3* hotel in Belgium with over 450 rooms. It's located in the city center, right accross one of the main shopping street of Brussels and 10mins walk from Grand-Place. It's easy to access with the tube, tramway and train station nearby.

The very large lobby is situated in the "basement" of the hotel where you also have a bar and a huge dining room, all in a very classic and clean style but it's unfortuantelly in contrast with the rooms.
The rooms, although very clean, are extremely basic but of a good size. You have different type of rooms (upgrade, executive, suite), access for disabled and rooms for allergic people as well.

Double is Eur 92 which is a very good price for that location.

A good value and a good location

New hotel, conviently located close to Place Rogier, an area that had once an unsavory reputation but is being rebuild for the past 10 years. It has the usual array of amenities. The rooms are a bit small but nothing is missing and you get a complementary breakfast. On the plus side, you are close to the Rogier subway station where the Number 2 subway line and the tram intersects.

Unique Quality: Complemenbtary breakfast

Next to The Sheriton and near the Hilton - price varies at time of year between £80-100 per night with continental breakfast, good restaurant and happy hour bar - good fitness suite and excellent service whenever I have been there.

More about Thon Hotel Brussels City Centre

Great location

by TripAdvisor Member KMtravelling

Stayed here for 4 nights and cannot complain about anything.

Our room was nice and clean, the breakfast was fantastic and the staff were very friendly (and patient with my poor attempt at French!). The room was not big but it was fine as we were out for the majority of the time anyway.

This hotel is 2 minutes from the shops and 5-10 minutes to the Gare du Nord Station.

We liked Brussels but felt that 4 nights was too long to spend there so we went to Antwerp and Amsterdam for day trips on the train, which was very easy and cheap to do.

Very well

by TripAdvisor Member Pámané

Stayed here for 2 nights with a family package (2 adults and 2 childs)
Our room was really big and nice with a great view.
This hotel is in front of an underground station (rogier) on the other hand of the shop street (neuestrass) and less than 10 minutes walking to the "Grand Place."
Very good choice !!
