I stayed at this hotel for a good price over 2002/3 New Years Eve. Good Points: -I had a large double room to myself with en-suite bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable with well placed lights and side tables. There was an in-room safe (inside the large wardrobe), a dressing table and two chairs, a TV and telephone. The bathroom was compact but modern and very clean with a powerful shower and plenty of hot water - the toilet was separate. -The breakfast was self service, hot and cold buffet style which is good because you can take things at your own pace however if the hotel is busy, breakfast can be a bit chaotic often with a wait for certain utensils and food to be replenished, but once re-stocked the food and coffee is of a good standard and more than sufficient to set you up for the day. -The welcome at reception was friendly and helpful and they arranged for a taxi to collect us when we had to leave. Medium Points: -The location is ok if a bit uninspiring; it's on one of the main Blv's. -In terms of proximity to tourist attractions it is about ten minutes walk to the Grand Place. -With regards to the red light district reputation I didn't see any signs of this in the vicinity of, or to the south of the hotel. Bad Points -The view from my room was terrible as it overlooked an internal courtyard, which contained the roof of the breakfast room and other hotel room windows. As a result of the room's outlook it was extremely dark. -If you are at the hotel when it is busy or accommodating students it can be very noisy. My companion had a room near a stone and tile stairwell and when people went up and down the stairs every laugh, voice travelled easily through the thin walls. My room at the end of a corridor was less affected. Overall assessment: -Good for visiting Brussels on a budget. If you want to stay within the inner loop I would recommend this hotel so long as you are not expecting 5* on a budget! Just remember your earplugs!! If on a budget and back in Brussels I would certainly return.
