Bus from Mostar to Dubrovnik

by Bertiew

Hello, does anyone know the timetable of buses departing from Mostar to Dubrovnik?

I am hoping to find a bus that leaves some time after 2 o'clock in the afternoon.

I've tried searching for bus timetables but not found anything so would really appreciate any information.

Thank you!

A company called Globtour runs buses on this route, check the schedule at www.globtour.com. But it is possible that there are other companies.

The Dubrovnik bus station timetable at http://www.libertasdubrovnik.com/voznired.swf shows ARRIVAL times in Dubrovnik. Departure times from Mostar would be roughly 2.5-3 hours earlier.

It doesn't look like there is currently any bus after 2pm, but schedules do change depending on the time of year.

Does anyone know a website I can check for bus schedule from sarajevo to sofia? We have a group of 5 people travelling in the area, from croatia to mostar and sarajevo, and planning to hop on a bus to sofia to avoid staying in serbia for visa issue. any info will help. thanks.

jumpman212, I very much doubt that there is a direct bus from Sarajevo to Sofia. You would almost certainly have to change in Serbia, probably either in Belgrade or Nis. Are you trying to avoid Serbia completely for visa reasons? Any route not going through Serbia would involve an enormous detour.

There is no single website that will allow you to work out bus times for this route. For what it's worth, Belgrade bus station is http://www.bas.co.yu/ and Sofia Central Bus Station is http://www.centralnaavtogara.bg. But there are lots of routes not covered by these sites, for example buses from Sarajevo to Nis won't appear on either, in fact they may not be on any online timetable.

Travel Tips for Mostar

Reconstruction

by solopes

All across town (and country) it's easy to see the effort of reconstruction. It's pleasant to notice the evidence of international aid. People is thinking about leaving some destroyed buildings, as a memorial of the war. One of the big avenues almost 100% destroyed, is the best solution: its crossing is truly smashing.

Close by, a modern cathedral is growing, behind a sign to Sarajevo, a town whose name is also a memorial for all of us, of those terrible days.

Go to see the now unexisting...

Go to see the now unexisting old bridge, that has given its name to the city. 'Most' means bridge.
It surrounding are charming, it the oldest bit of the city, with lots of souvenirs shops and nice old houses. It's cosy atmosphere. It's a little city where everybody knows each other.

Limited information

I have a feeling the tourist information centers in Mostar don't see a lot of action. This one is located on the western (Catholic) side of the river, but when I went inside they really didn't offer me a lot of help. The lady inside spoke English and was able to show me a map, but it was almost as if I was bothering her from her book.

Oh well. Luckily, I found another tourist information center (both were actually private agencies) on the other side of the river in the Muslim Quarter. Here the woman, who also spoke good English, was more than happy to spend some time talking with me and asking me about my travels. She offered me a map (well, for 3 Markas) and suggested a great restaurant. She also exchanged some Croatian Kuna for some local BiH currency, which proved to be a great help.

Grad Mostar

Animals in Bosnia are allowed the run around freely...even in the cities. So if you're in any of the major cities don't freak out if u see some goats or sheep...it's perfectly normal ...we have some by my house in Sarajevo too :)

Diving from the Bridge

by solopes

An old tradition keeps being regularly respected: some boys, after collecting a small amount from the curious visitors, jump from the bridge, diving in the river 30 meters below.

Tradition says that they must hit the water with the chest and not with the head, but I couldn't confirm it: everything is so quick that I'll wait to see it in slow motion in the video. I'll let you know!
