old town: a convenient location to stay around by travelife If you want to have a bed and breakfast arrangment, there is even more chance that you are gonna interact with local people having breakfast with them. For a stay longer than few days, you may even develop a personal relationship and may get invited to have a dinner with them. Many young tourist find this untouristic, less-commercial charm of Bosnia coming from Adriatic coastal destinations of Croatia where people became a bit more commercial over last several years. A place to stay near the old town of Sarajevo, brings you closer to tram line from where you can easily get to other destinations in Sarajevo. Theme: Other

Sarajevo accommodation by travelife In the big Bosnian cities i.e. Sarajevo where hotels normally attract upper-end travellers and where there is no such youth hosel yet, accommodation agncies are the ones who can help you get a cheaper accommodation. The price starts from 8 EUR to 30/35 EUR. The well-known Lijubicica agency is situated at this point of the old town near the tram stop which is very easy to find out. If you are too late or arrive in Sarajevo in the evening you can also book accommodation on internet and get a free reception from the airport and can save your taxi fare of around 10 EUR. view of Sarajevo from my Balcony by travelife The rate of the accommodation also depends on the location. If it requires you to walk a bit up-hill which might be pleasant to the young who are adventurous and lile to get a taste of the Bosnian neighbourhood, the rate tends to be cheaper. The rate also cheaper if it is far from the town centre. In that case you have to pay for transport to get back to the city and transportation there may not be easy. So be sure where it is . view from my balcony by travelife Renting a room from a tourist agancy also gives you an opportunity to stay with a family, in a separate room though, but often sharing a kitchen. As it may happen, your host family may invite you over for a coffee. And what better opportunity a tourist may get other than talking to the people of that country in an informal way! It also matters if the host family has young children who speak English. Theme: Other

Me, sleeping in a COLD private house in Sarajevo by dabuwan Hotels in BiH are scarse and very expensive. The only affordable accomodations for a budget traveller are private houses. Most owners are moslims and they are very kind with tourists, but they expect you'll be respectful for their house and traditions. BiH can be very cold until April/May and house heating is often turned off, so be prepared to sleep with many clothes on, unless you are visiting in summer.

by Marcin75 If you are looking for an accomodation for longer (more then 2 weeks) I would recommend contacting an office manager at the local OSCE or OHR office. They usually have the list of people who are willing to rent rooms or appartments to foreigners. The average and reasonable price (outside Sarajevo) is about 15 KM per day. Theme: Other

Very convenient location, a few minutes walk into the Turkish bazaars. we stayed in a room across the road which was clean and spacious. a very good breakfast in the main guest house where there is alos a comfortable lounge, books etc. There is parking for one car outside (with video surveillance), but a neighbour kindly offered to let us put our hired car in a lockable garage.
Conveneint location. Great views across teh city at night when the light come on on the minarets. This is Jerry, the owner and consierge. by american_tourister I stayed for 11 months! This place is so neat! You get a 10' x 20' room with metal walls, home made 2x4 furniture and communal showers. No noise buffers and electrical issues just make it a place where you never know what will happen next!
Surly construction hands, smelly dining hall workers, prima donna firemen, greasy mechanics, this place just has all the neat people. It has long narrow halls, bad lighting, and has doors exposed to the elements. Hot in summer and brutally cold in winter, just the way it should be! You can be surprised in the shower at 05:30 by another person coming down to take a shower. You can hear people pleasuring themselves. You can even hear people snore at any hour day or night. What a treat! Best of all. IT'S FREE! Yep, just sign a Logcap contract and you can stay there for at least a year at a time on Uncle Sam's nickle. Find the sign that says "Camp Manager Parking Only" and take his spot.. You are there!

Private rooms known as Zimmer Frei (yes, German tourists prevailed in good old days and this is the surviving proof of that). They can be found all over the country, always including a taste of home-made goods (cheese, meat products, drinks like sljivovica or lozovaca), all-you-can-drink coffee and of course the genuine contact with the locals. Camping can be an option in the wild (uninhabited) parts, but I personally wouldn't try it - I'm too scared of mines. About 30 KM (same amount of DEM) for a double, except in Sarajevo where it gets dearer but still very affordable by our standards. Theme: CampgroundComparison: least expensive
