Booking in is done at the tour office. The office owns quite a few different locations. The main hostel is behind the office, but if they are full they will give you accomodation in one of many overspill houses. The main hostel was booked out when I arrived so I stayed in one of these overspills. It was very basic but gives you everything you would need in a great location.
They also have a resturant and a hostel bar with internet cafe ,where you can have breakfast, lunch or just relax in the main hostel. Breakfast is included in the price.
It is a hostel, do not expect luxury. There are dorms with 8 beds at a cost of 10 Euro per night. Two bathrooms and a kitchen with everything you need. People tend to loose the keys / not return them, thus there are not enough. Two girls who returned late, were locked out and woke up all uf us by knocking at the door :-( Also, it seems like people use toilet paper like crazy, it is often empty.
The first evening we did not have water. Not the hostel`s fault, the water line was broken. Gave us a chance to feel what it was like here during the long siege!
The hostel can also provide rooms in private homes at a higher cost: 15 Euro!
Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Unique Quality: The best two things are: The price and the localisation.
The main picture shows a tram at the station, Hostel Ljubicica reception left of the train. The entrance of the hostel itself is where the car is parked, between the receprion and the tram.
Directions: Right across the street from the main sqare in Bascarsija. Tram no1 from the railway station stops right outside: After running along the river, it makes a U turn, leave at first stop, cross minor street, turn left, walk past a candy store and a bakery.
This is a pretty ghetto hostel with a grungy bathroom, but it's close to everything important. The lounge is full of hippie travellers and is dirty as heck.
Unique Quality: no curfew! and it's smack next to everything important in Sarajevo.
Directions: right next to the bazaar
Hostel LJUBIÈICA is situated in the old part of town, next to the main square(tourists call it Pigeon Square)and just steps away from cafes, night clubs and backpacker priced restaurants. They have 80 beds in single, double, triple and dorm rooms.
The staff is suberb and can give you information on everything from train schedules to organized tours. They are extremely knowledgeable, not just about Sarajevo but also about neighboring countries. They have an excellent tour that will take you to the Tunnel Museum and around town for about $10. That was one of the highlights of my last trip.

Directions: Take the tram from the train station or bus station and get off at the Old Town stop, in front of the fountain. The hostel office is right there on the corner, across fromt he fountain.
Just other side of the old town centre (in the picture) you see the sign of *Ljubicica'. Its situated in a good location and they do have a huge collection of places (mostly rooms at private houses) with different rates. Check out the locations and try it for a night instead of paying for the whole stay at a time!
I stayed here for four nights. I got a single room for 15 euros (30KM) per night excluding breakfast. The hostel is run by two brothers, Sead and Mirza and their father Ismet. It's situated about a fifteen minute walk from Bascasija (the old town centre) in a very quiet street off Kovaci.
Unique Quality: There's a balcony from where you can sit and take in stunning views of the city. There's also a garden with plum and apple trees, tables and chairs. Car parking is also available.
They can also arrange guided tours either by car or on foot.
Directions: The office is open from 10am. It's situated across the street from the fountain at Barscarsija, where the pigeons are fed. From there they will take you by car to the hostel. They can also pick you up on arrival in Sarajevo if you 'phone them in advance.
