From Sarajevo Airport to the bus station for Mostar
by Karahan
Hi from Istanbul,
We're landing to Sarajevo airport and than we have to take a bus for Mostar.
How can we find an easy way to get bus station for Mostar? Do we have to go to the city center first? Or anything else?
Also how long does it take and what about prices.. ?
Thanks for your help,
Haluk

Hi!
You can go by local bus to central/downtown Sarajevo according to http://www.euromost.info/sarajevo_city_guide_tourist_travel_information_sarajevo_airport_sightseeing_attractions_accommodation.php#Layer30
The section “Sarajevo – Mostar in Bosnia to Ploce in Croatia” and for other sections: http://www.zrs-rs.com/red_voznje.php
Serbian words and sentences:
Stanica = Railway station.
Pregled direktnih veza = Schedule direct connecting.
Serbian – English dictionary: http://www.krstarica.com/dictionary/index.php?u=stanica+

Thank you but I don't want to use trains for this route.
I think there are 2 different bus stations in Sarajevo and I don't know which one is for Mostar. (Lukavica probably..?) So I need to find a way to get that main station where i can take a bus to Mostar.
But links you gave me also helpful, especially the 1st one.

Merhaba Haluk,
You have to go from airport to Central Bus Station( not Lukovica!) to take a bus for Mostar, near the Railway Station.( It takes by train 2 hours, and was 10 KM last year)
By Bus ,it was 14 KM and + 2 KM for every bag /gage!
Iyi yolculuklar :)

Hi Karahan!
This page is about transportation from Sarajevo http://wikitravel.org/en/Sarajevo
For which reasons do you rather go by bus for Mostar instead of by train?

Thanks Jesper I've already found the same one short a while ago.
I've read so much about almost everything. People offer buses more than trains. Also It fits my schedule easily. There are so many buses to Mostar frequently

Hi,
Check my Sarajevo pages about the details.About mostar Catholic part is the modern part of the city.Check Muslim part for the Monuments.During the noon time it s very hot I do not suggest to walk around the city.Sarajevo is much more attractive than Mostar.
Have a good time.
Travel Tips for Sarajevo
To many graveyards
by vesna04
While walking around, it is impossible not to notice the graveyards. They are everywhere . Some cemeteries were quite large, but most of them were very small, with just a few graves placed next to mosques or people’s homes. The dates were mostly 1992 and 1993, which told me that most of these people were killed in the last war.
Former "Sniper Alley"
by HORSCHECK
The wide multilane boulevard which connects the historic old town (Bascarsija) in the east with the newer residential and industrial districts of Sarajevo in the west was known as "Sniper Alley" (Snajperska aleja) during the 1990's war.
The boulevard is lined with mainy high rise buildings which were perfect for sniper posts, so it was said that especially this street was dangerous to cross.
I just assume that it was probably also dangerous to cross any other street in Sarajevo during that time.
sweets and ice cream
by picek
Sweetshops in Sarajevo, Bascarsija are abundant with sweet stuff - cakes, halvas, ice cream, biscuit etc.
You may actually find it impossible to try it all, they are really many kinds and many names. It is however nice to sit down by the street, having Bosnian coffee with nice cake while chatting to your acquaintance, or trying real good ice cream - whatever please your sweet tooth :)
Picture here was from Dallas sweetshop (American names still popular nowsadays), which is at Bascarsija where Ferhadija street begins.
Locomotive in Grbavica Stadion
by Dirim
Grbavica is the Stadium of Zeljeznicari which is the team established by Railway workers in 1921. This locomotive located in Grbavica Stadion is the unique character of the stadium.
The banner of Zeljo fans using this symbol is also of importance (see 2nd photo)
Opstina Dobrinja
by Dirim
The district of Dobrinja is a new one Sarajevo. Being attacked by para-military units of Serbian Democratic Party by cannons, and tanks in the beginning of war, Dobrinja faced a very bloody warfare.
After the Dayton Agreement Dobrinja was cut from Sarajevo and annexed to RS (Republika Srpska)
