Thanks so much for the info . I'm thinking it might be best to get the train to Croatia first as we are going there sometime anyway ( 5.5 hours) and then make our way back to Sarajevo .Thanks for the flight info Gusiac but I checked and its 95400Huf with tax one way...too much for me.

Travel Tips for Sarajevo

Winter Sports

by Srechko

Skiing in Sarajevo. Beautiful mountains surround the city, and they are wild. They aren't much commercialized and that is what makes them special. Jahorina (photo) and Bjelasnica are a paradise for skiers. Also you finally get to breathe, activity not recommended in the city...

Local beer: Sarajevsko Pivo

by HORSCHECK

One of the most popular beer brands in Bosnia and Herzegovina seems to be Sarajevsko Pivo.

The brewery "Sarajevska Pivara" is of course located in Sarajevo, where it was established in 1864. It can be found opposite to the Franciscan Church on the south side of the river Mijacka.

During our 1 week in Bosnia and Herzegovina I gave both the light Sarajevsko Pivo and the light skimmed Sarajevsko Premium Pivo a try. Both beers tasted quite good, but I wouldn't call them exceptional.

Intersection of Strosmajerova...

by Srechko

Intersection of Strosmajerova and Vase Miskina Street - City Center - popular and always busy area.

Most of Sarajevo habitants are poor but you won't see too many beggers like in some western cities. Average salary is around 400DM per month.

war torn buildings

by caribou_ire

All over Sarajevo there are buildings destroyed by the recent war. Even in the city centre there are bullet holes and grenade cavities omnipresent.
A brooding reminder of the fresh tradgedy which haunts this otherwise cheerful city.

Music&Performance-early November in Sarajevo

by adonai_2012

JAZZ FEST. Usually takes place in the very beginning of November and lasts about 1 week. We have *very good* musicians comming to Sarajevo to play as guests. For detailed info you check the program on the internet. Sometimes better concerts take place in Dom Policije location, and sometimes in Coloseum club. It varries every year, so one needs top be careful ;)

Also, on the Strange Fruits Stage there are usually very good performances.

It is not, so far, complicated to get tickets even on the day of the concert/performance (although I get them before, not to stress myself)

Oh, to mention-seats are not numerated so you might want to come a bit before the program starts to catch urself a good seat.

WELLCOME&ENJOY! IT IS WORTH!!!! :D
