Site of 1984 Winter Olympics
by karenincalifornia
I am a Winter Olympics junkie. I must have watched almost every 1984 Olympic event on TV. So for me, two years later in 1986, it was very exciting to be in the city where these Olympics were held.
This is the bobsled run on Mt. Trebevic as it looked in 1986. Most Olympic facilities have been destroyed by the war. The bobsled run now starts in Republika Srpska and ends in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

by FRONA
To make burek or in this case zeljanica you need salt, flour, vegetable spice, oil, and spinnach. It is a main dish.
3. Zeljanica (zel-YAH-nee-tsah) (spinach and cheese filling)
In large bowl, combine:
6 c. fresh spinach, chopped (1.5 L), or 10-oz. package frozen spinach (300g)
Sprinkle with salt. Squeeze out all water and add to cheese filling (above).
4. Krompirusa (kroom-PEER-oo-shah) (potato filling)
In large bowl, combine:
3 large potatoes, grated
1 small onion, grated
1 small carrot, grated (optional)
1 T. salt
Directions
Have ready:
12 phyllo pastry sheets, thawed (about an 8 oz./250 g package of frozen phyllo dough)
prepared filling
Place one sheet of phyllo dough on a kitchen towel and spread a little oil on it. Spoon the filling onto the long edge of the dough, in a long row -about 1 inch wide and about 2 inches from the edge of the dough. Roll the dough into a thin tube, starting at the long edge with the filling. Coil the tube into a spiral (like a cinnamon roll). Place on a greased 9x13 pan or cookie sheet, and brush the top with a bit of oil. Repeat procedure until you have used all the filling. Bake about 30 minutes in preheated 350?F oven (180?C) until golden brown in color. Brush with butter. Serve with plain yogurt.
Tunnel Museum
by kirmarsh
During the siege this tunnel was built to provide a means of getting in and out of the city food, water, people, and weapons were all moved though this tunnel it was a life line for the city there was no other way of getting in or out of the city. It now a museum run by the owners of the house you watch a video, walk though a small section of the tunnel and listen to a talk about the experiences of those who lived though the siege. It gives a very personal perspective on the siege and the war it is incredibly moving and informative. And I would say a must for all visitors to the city.
There are a number of ways to get to the museum. You can take one of the tours from the city centre they are about 12 euros or you can catch a tram to ilidza and then a taxi, you may be able to negotiate a fare with a taxi driver to take you there and back. If you are driving be warned it is really hard to find.
Hercegovina
by Mina17
This is also a place where i've spent very little time. But the time i did spend here was really fun. It's in Hercegovina- can't remember where exactly. A small area (By the way u can tell you're in Hercegovina when u go through a long tunnel and once out of it u see a long beautiful and really green river- called the Neretva River- It's only in Hercegovina) But anyways like I was saying a nice and small area where u can have a picnic, go swimming and hang out.
