Hostel LJUBIČICA is situated in the old part of town, next to the main square(tourists call it Pigeon Square)and just steps away from cafes,night clubs and backpacker priced restaurants. They have 80 beds in single,double,triple and dorm rooms.
The staff is suberb and can give you information on everything from train schedules to organized tours. They are extremely knowledgeable, not just about Sarajevo but also about neighboring countries. They have an excellent tour that will take you to the Tunnel Museum and around town for about $10. That was one of the highlights of my last trip.

Hostel Posillipo is a new hostl located in the oldest part of Sarajevo-Bašcaršija.
It is a 25 meter walk from Bašcaršija’s main tram-station, 35 meters from one of Sarajevo top monuments, the Sebilj fountain.
Within the hostel complex they have an old-fashioned Bosnian resturant, where the guests can enjoy their free time, organize parties, and eat.

Sarajevo is a little short on youth hostels, but the problem is rectified by the abundance of private room rentals. The Sartour Hostel has been around for awhile and receives increasingly mixed reviews. The biggest complaint it has received is that the owners are indredibly hostile to the visitors and that they felt as if their privacy was violated on more than one occasion. Probably the most disturbing complaint I have read about is how the women who have stayed there have felt as if there were quite a few "peeping Toms" during their stay. More of a guesthouse than than really a hostel, Guest House Bistrik is situated in the old town of Sarajevo called Bistrik at the left side of the River Miljacka. From the location you can have a nice view of the old town, Bascarsija, the city hall and all the sights such as the cathedral, churches, synagogues and mosques and more.
The guesthouse has 8 rooms which include singles, doubles and 3 and 4 bed rooms. Some have a balcony and others have a city view.
The bathrooms all have bathtubs and the toilets have bidets.
They also offer two four bed apartments.
Transportation can be provided from the airport, train station or bus station.

The rooms are new, nice, clean accompanied with spacious bathroom. The location was good, just a steps away from the tram station. The staff was kind and helpful. Although I stayed in her private apartment, I did have my own room in it. Well, I shared it with my traveling companion at the time, Sumire. It was decorated oddly, kind of how you would expect an eccentric aunt’s place to be. Lots of little doilies and knickknacks and stuff. Rugs everywhere-even on the chairs! But she made us a nice breakfast for 3 euros and she was great about fixing us tea and stuff. The drawback was that she was a little far out of the center and it was a long walk to the tram stop, but for a little under $10 you couldn’t really ask for more.

We stayed at Hostel Posillipo in Sarajevo for two nights. It was nothing fancy but alright, not really a hostel-like atmosphere, more like a private pension. We never met any other travellers here, only the friendly owner who was out smoking all the time when he was at home. One night he wasn't home so his son replaced him. Both wanted to buy our car which was parked right in front of the "reception". ;)
We slept in a private double room with comfortable beds and enough space. The bathroom was shared and it could have needed some cleaning but I have seen worse hostel bathrooms in my life! Make sure to bring your own toilet paper as there never was any available.
The location of the hostel is great - after a walk of maybe 1 minute you are at the famous fountain on Bašcaršija square. Very convenient. A tram stop is also almost in front of the door.
Talking of "in front of the door": The hostel is located in a backyard street called Besarina Cikma. The building in front of it, at the main street (Mula Mustafe Baseskije), was hit by a shell in the war and has no wall on the back. This unfortunately seems to attract some creepy fellows, I saw quite a few people who either used it as a toilet or as a place to stay. A bit dodgy unfortunately...
But apart from that it's ok here and the price is ok when compared to hotel prices in Sarajevo! We paid approx. 60 km per night for the room (30 EUR).

VERY NICE AND FRIENDLY OWNER who took my dad and I for coffee in the morning and arranged parking - verrrrrry kind!!!

The bus and train stations are about 4 kilometres away from the hostel. The airport is 15 kilometre away.
BUT THEY ARE IN THE HEART OF THE CITY CENTRE!
