"Bansko - the new jewel in our winter tourism"
The Bansko mountain town is located in Southwestern Bulgaria, at the foothills of the majestic Pirin mountain, some 160 from Sofia. The Pirin national park was declared in 1983 from UNESCO as a Natural Heritage.
3 oct 2006 - In 2000 the Bulgarian authorities made an exception for the sake of tourism and allowed the construction of ski slopes in the Shiligarnika area. Today those ski slopes are two times more than the allowed surface , and half of the ski lifts in the area have been constructed without the necessary documents and permits from the Ministery of Ecology and for this they are illegal.
Erosion has become a major problem , avalanche danger aswell.
The water to the town of Bansko is being polluted. Nobody takes any measures to stop this maddness!!! Untill it's too late...
