As this house is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, you will receive everything what you expect from a 5 star Kempinski. Spacious and comfortable rooms, excellent staff, gorgeous spa.
Two things, I did not like so much:
- Cleanliness: Beside the bed, I found the eyeglasses of a previous guest.
- Hard work, to get a bottle of french champagne in the Lobby Bar. First they claimed, that there's only sparkling wine available. Stay obstinate - after some discussion they'll provide a bottle of real champagne. Or two... A happy problem, of course, but in this beautiful ambience this is quite the appropriate drink.

The room was excellent,the "Turn Down" service surprised us.
When we came back to our room,the bed had been turned down,and chocolates left on the pillows.....mmmmm
They were lovely too.

Absolutely fantastic,the staff were friendly and very professional in all aspects of their job.the Spa center is first class,I had a sauna and then spent 10 minutes in a "Snow Room" it was surreal.
The whole 5 star hotel experience is something that I could get used to.
Unique Quality: The Spa Center is completely unique,fabulous.

We travelled with four adults, thinking there would be enough privacy in the two separate rooms. However, the rooms were just separated by blinds - and if anyone wanted to sleep - everyone else had to leave or stop talking!
It's also a little too far from the main town.
Finally - the beach was far too rough to swim in at that time of year and the pool isn't very nice.
But Hanalei Bay is terrific.
The photos of the resort do not show the beauty.
We stayed in a premium unit and awoke to the sound of the ocean every morning. The kids enjoyed the beach and each unit had everything we needed.
We shopped at the local grocery store and then barbequed every night. They had the charcoal and even the matches at the barbeque areas. We borrowed games from the office to play after the sun went down.
The office stay was friendly, caring and made our trip even better. The airlines had lost our luggage and the office staff made sure we received it right away. They gave us the local hot spots and hideaways that made our trip even better.
They even had classes and a party while we were there. We traveled the entire island and if we return it will be to this resort.
We are a family of six and this is the only place I would return to even if it is just the hubby and I.
We stayed for 3 beautiful days on Kauai and had the most beautiful weather.
Right to the point on the hotel!
The Good:
1) From the Premium Suite, the ocean proximity was fantastic
2) The North Shore of Kauai is by far the prettiest side
3) Hanalei is a quiant little hippie town with good food and shops
4) The resort was laid back and the people were friendly
5) Seemed clean enough - although I didn't go barefoot inside
6) The price was decent for Kauai
7) Close to 'Tunnels' beach
The Bad:
1) Even the premium rooms were in bad need of 'sprucing' up. Lots of worn carpet, musty furniture, and rusted metal.
2)The place had a sewer smell
3)In the middle of 'nowhere', if you are doing lots of activities you will be doing tons of driving.
4)Lack of daily maid service; I was surprised I missed it.
5) No airconditioning; it did get hot during the day
6) Would have not liked the resort at all if I didnt get the premium suite - the proximity and view of the ocean was the saving grace.
The Spa Center is completely unique,fabulous.
