    Alpin hotel is small family type of hotel with a good location.The hotel has five rooms, one suite and two studios with terraces offering a panoramic view to the mountain. The hotel also has a holiday village with four houses.

    I got this info from the hotel's site. I have not stayed there. I had only been to the restaurant having some sweets. My inpression was not that good because the desert I was having there was not fresh at all. I hope it is more an exception than a rule but just to keep it on the safe side I never went there again.

    I guess you can try the place for yourslef and make up your mind if it is a good one or not :)

    The four-star Rila Hotel seems to me like the best choice amongst the hotels in Borovets. As a whole it looks better than Samokov hotel and as far as I remember the prices were about the same.

    It was built in 1990 and is said to be one of the largest on the Balkan Peninsula. The hotel was renovated relatively soon, in 2001.

    I have not seen the rooms but I had used the sport center and had gone to the nightclub and the bars. I was happy with all of them.

    There are also a couple of restaurants, a congress center, child-care facilities. Within the hotel you will also find a shopping center, a beauty salon, a medical center, and an electronic games room. There is also a parking lot.

    All rooms and suites have:
    - large balconies overlooking the mountains,
    - bathtubs,
    - phones, and
    - satellite TV.

    On their web site you will read that for 10 years it has been acclaimed as the most elegant and prestigious hotel in the resort of Borovets. It is a bit overestimated. Actually Rila hotel is a better choice according to me and the price is about the same.

    Samokov hotel is good and comfortable but it is far away from being luxorious place. It has swiming pool, bowling and billiards as well as good conference center and a night club. The sport center is not bad but I would recommend you to go to the one in Rila hotel. It is much better.

    As far as the rooms are concerned better take the so called "luxury" ones. The other romms are a bit old andthere could be problems like the doors of your wardrope can not be shut or windows that can not be closed :)) Otherwise the rooms are specious. If you have the chance to choose, go for the rooms on the 7th and 8th floor. This part of the hotel was renovated.

    - balconies with beautiful view to the mountains.

    The village consists of a couple of two-storied cottages. They look reasonable from outside but I have never been inside.

    If you look at the contact details you will see that they are the same as the ones for Rila hotel. It is not a mistake. It is just that both the hotel and the village are owned from one and the same company.

    Somebody mentioned that if you are staying in the village you will be able to use some of the facilities in the sport center of Rila hotel for free but I am not sure about that.

    And I have never asked for prices for a cottage, so I have no clue about that but you can check it for yourself.

    It might be a good option if you are not willing to spend that much on a hotel but I am not quite sure if the cottages are warm enough during winter time.

    - two bedrooms,
    - a kitchen,
    - a lounge,
    - a bathroom,
    - a terrace,
    - satellite TV, and
    - a telephone.

    We didnt know what to expect having heard some bad reports, but were pleasantly surprised. staff were friendly. Food was not always piping hot, but that is how the Bulgarians eat it. They do provide a microwave in the restaurant. There is a ski store, swimming pool, relaxing reception bar & an irish bar

    BOROVETS We stayed at the Iglika Hotel which is a newish hotel compared to the bigger older established tryolean looking hotels of Rila and Samakov.

    The Iglika is situated on the road behind the Rila Hotel so is handy for all central facilities. The hotel is small and friendly and has modern furniture and good bathrooms - compared to tales of other hotels it seemed to be the best! . Contrary to popular belief the food was good too.

    • The hotel is a little dated, needs a bit of a facelift. The smoking ban definitely has to come into play. The food was just okay.

    The hotel was perfectly located for slope to door skiing/snowboarding. It has a pool & jacuzzi area, which is great after a days skiing.

    • Freshly refurbished, very comfortable rooms, good food. Half-board costs about 200EUR pp/week. It's about 2km from the village centre / gondola but it's a wonderful 15minute walk through the pine forest + hotel buses go every hour. Much better than some large hotels in the centre (Ela, Samokov, Olymp, etc), if you don't mind walking of course.

    Smells good! not many facilities like some bigger (and older) hotels but the setting is great and rooms are new and very nice. great accommodation for that price.
