Great Location

The hotel is a little dated, needs a bit of a facelift. The smoking ban definitely has to come into play. The food was just okay.

Unique Quality: The hotel was perfectly located for slope to door skiing/snowboarding. It has a pool & jacuzzi area, which is great after a days skiing.

Rila Hotel ****

The four-star Rila Hotel seems to me like the best choice amongst the hotels in Borovets. As a whole it looks better than Samokov hotel and as far as I remember the prices were about the same.

It was built in 1990 and is said to be one of the largest on the Balkan Peninsula. The hotel was renovated relatively soon, in 2001.

I have not seen the rooms but I had used the sport center and had gone to the nightclub and the bars. I was happy with all of them.

There are also a couple of restaurants, a congress center, child-care facilities. Within the hotel you will also find a shopping center, a beauty salon, a medical center, and an electronic games room. There is also a parking lot.

Unique Quality: All rooms and suites have:
- large balconies overlooking the mountains,
- bathtubs,
- phones, and
- satellite TV.

Better Than Our's !

We did'nt stay here, we gatecrashed it !
Came down on several evenings to sit at their bar and listen to the live music, also took a wak into their nightclub, situated downstairs, which I thought was bigger than some of ours back home ! Plenty of room for dancing round your handbags here !

Unique Quality: Onsite chemist, ski shops, housing property shops, games rooms, nightclub, bars, swimming pool, sauna, gym, the BEST access to the slopes ( on your doorstep.. literally ) and much, much more !

good accomodation

We didnt know what to expect having heard some bad reports, but were pleasantly surprised. staff were friendly. Food was not always piping hot, but that is how the Bulgarians eat it. They do provide a microwave in the restaurant. There is a ski store, swimming pool, relaxing reception bar & an irish bar

Hotel Rila *** one of the best hotel resorts

A nice clean hotel, close to the ski-lifts, good restaurant (sometimes some Russian pigs that ate for 2 persons, but that you have everywhere ;)

Rila is the best as it is the most modern, i recommed the resort to anyone, especially young people!

Unique Quality: Comfortable rooms, a lovely atmosphere, and a wonderful spread of food at breakfast and dinner.

Despite being a relatively small resort, the skiing was always good as long as the weather held up.

Most of the hotels are right on the slopes and so its great for beginers as not effort is needed to carry their gear to the slopes.

Maids came round every day, they were friendly. The evening food was of wide selection, and quite nice. Breakfast was a little different. There was plenty of cold stuff, but hot food was resided to scrabled eggs most days. enough for me though.

There is a swimming pool, gym, and steamers. It is quite a nice place and in the best position. I deffinately recommend.

It also has a selection of Hoes downstairs, but don't worry if u r not interested they will not bother you, there was plenty who were.

More about Hotel Rila Borovets

rila hotel

Hi, I have just came back from Rila hotel in Borovets and I have to say that it was lovely. very beautiful place to visit. Highly recommended. I was with a couple of friends there and we were in the Rila hotel for nearly two weeks. The hotel is in the best location just at the bottom of the slopes in Borovets. Very picturesque. People in the hotel are very polite and helpful, rooms were very clean (cleaned every day), food very good and the hotel provided excellent security. The ski-schools provide excellent ski lessons and the ski instructors are highly qualified. planning to go back again.

Borosport holiday village **

by hekate about Borosport holiday village

The village consists of a couple of two-storied cottages. They look reasonable from outside but I have never been inside.

If you look at the contact details you will see that they are the same as the ones for Rila hotel. It is not a mistake. It is just that both the hotel and the village are owned from one and the same company.

Somebody mentioned that if you are staying in the village you will be able to use some of the facilities in the sport center of Rila hotel for free but I am not sure about that.

And I have never asked for prices for a cottage, so I have no clue about that but you can check it for yourself.

It might be a good option if you are not willing to spend that much on a hotel but I am not quite sure if the cottages are warm enough during winter time. In the cottages you have:
- two bedrooms,
- a kitchen,
- a lounge,
- a bathroom,
- a terrace,
- satellite TV, and
- a telephone.

BOROVETS We stayed at the Iglika Hotel which is a newish hotel compared to the bigger older established tryolean looking hotels of Rila and Samakov. The Iglika is situated on the road behind the Rila Hotel so is handy for all central facilities. The hotel is small and friendly and has modern furniture and good bathrooms - compared to tales of other hotels it seemed to be the best! . Contrary to popular belief the food was good too.

Did not stay in the Rila but it is a huge hotel at the foot of one of the slopes. It has a lively nightclub in the basement. I understand the rooms are quite small, thehotel has apparently been copied from a French ski resort hotel.

Borovets is great, the Astika beer is thwe local brew and is very good and about half the price of the imported stuff like Amstel or Heiniken. The local brandy and vodka are well worth trying. Many of the bars are very small but lively.

Chicken and chips from the sheds on the slopes is brilliant.

Warning, do not need to go to the toilet on the slopes and if you do make sure you are not wearing an all in one suit!

Great place you will have fun. Are you new to skiing or novices?

I've been there. Its recomended as the nicest and next to a ski slope. I has a indore pool to use included in the price. I think in the high season wich is till beginning of March, the pricesis 90$ per night. There is a web site. Tipe up pamporovo on yahoo search and on the first link there will be a link for othe montain resorts in Bulgaria, as well as Borovetch. You will have fun. there is cheaper hotels oround there, but hotel Rila is more conveniant. Right behind hotel Rila is hotel Iglica which is much cheaper, but it's overlooking the parking lot of Rila.

Its the number 1 ski resort in bulgaria.

The Hotel Rila is top it has a ski shop, night club, shopping arcade, hairdresser wich is a must wen ur on holiday and swimming pool.

Theres plenty of restaurants and bars for every type of occasion. Theres a cosy inn with a log fire or busy bars with loud music and dancing. Theres also many discos dotted around the resort. Wherever u go the atmosphere is fantasic.

For a 3 course tourist menu its around £6.50, a pizza is about £3.00 and a bottle of beer is around £1.00.

All in all i think borovets is buzzing with nightlife as well as its fantastic skiing and there are very few places in the world were u can stay out til 4 in da morning for prices which are alot less than wat you pay back home.

I hope this information will be useful to you. And i hope you have a great holiday.
