Hizha Vihren

Of course there are no hotels in the park. Accommodation is either camping or mountainhuts. The Hizha Vihren is one of the two huts that are at the first ones you encounter coming on your way from Bansko. It’s the first stop for many hikers. The hizha is rather large and contains a few dorms, a dining room, kitchen, livingroom, a terras and a separate building in which there is a bar.(closes at 23.00 pm) The dorms are overcrowded by bunk beds and most of the (mainly local) hikers go to bed early, so that, if you come back from the bar at midnight, you will have to find your bed in the dark. But it is indeed a mountainhut. And that means that is spartanic and contains of course breathtaking outdoor toilets. You can have dinner and breakfast at the hizha, of course only during the hours that the kitchen opens. Prizes for food are pleasant and the food is good. Shopska, a dish with meat (kebab or meatballs) and potatoes and melon as dessert comes at 6 or 7 lv. The place is relax to stay, has a friendly staff and is a good place to meet other hikers. Of course your nightrest will be less adequate considering a dorm with 30 snorking people around you. The prize is 10 lv per night. It is not necessary to book in advance. Even if the hizha is fully booked, you can sleep on the ground in the living room.
