you can rent a room in the monastery; i haven't done it, but i saw that they're the dorm type!

Zodiak Camping: Campground

Many people combine a visit to the monastery with hiking in the surrounding mountains. So why not camping in the surroundings of the monastery then? Zodiak Camping charges 10 lv per person. There is a restaurant and the river side should be relaxed. This place is some 2 km from the monastery along the road to follow when you go to Kirl Meadow.

Rila Monastery: Sleeping inside the monastary

Better try to announce your staying in advance (07054-2208) if possible. The cheaper rooms are about 20 lv per person: these cheaper rooms are in the west-wing. These rooms have shared toilets but no showers. The more expensive rooms (upto 30 lv) have private bathrooms; but are usually booked out very quick, so that you have to arrive early. Check in for information at the reception in the south-wing)

Rila Restaurant: Basic Dorm

A bit disappointed that I couldn?t stay at the monastery, and encouraged by my ?the cheaper the better? drive, I ended up at the Rila Restaurant. The owner of the place let me stay for 10 lv for one night. The pace is a dorm: there are at the first floor above the restaurant (to be entered by stairs that are hidden in the dark at night) some three dorm rooms, with some twenty beds in each room. The place is very basic, Spartan and it is said that only when you are on a really tight budget you should stay here. The rooms are dreary and the toilets and bathroom is comparable to that of a mountainhut, though even the showers of the hizha were more relaxed. That is not to say that this place is a bad place: its just basic. I slept in a room where there was at that night only one Bulgarian sleeping, who was not in a friendly mood, so he got very angry when I turned on the light when I came back to the dorm at night: but even me using a discreet small flashlight was not good enough for the old friend; so this is what you might expect: yet, its cheap and basic accommodation is always fun, in a certain way
(The hostal is only metres from the Samokov gate)

Inside the closter: Sleep as a Monch

If you like to see what is it to sleep in a monch's room you have to try this. I haven't heard about any other possibility to do this. It is not expensive (actually cheep) and it's worth it. It's fun. Ask in the closter for further details :-)))
