1) Where will I get the best exchange rates in Burgas in changing Australian dollars to Bulgarian currency?
Always use an ATM card or even travelers checks. Euros would be excellent. I don't think that Bulgarian banks are too anxious to get Australian currency.
Hi,
The current exchange rate is 1 AUD=1.35-1.36 BGN.Any exchange office that might offer a better/higher rate is OK. You will find several exchange offices in the pedestiran streets downtown Burgas. Check with the banks, too. Just or your inf:
1 EUR=1.95 BGN, 1 USD=1,61 BGN.
If you go to exchange office watch out.I mean really watch what's written.Make you'r own calculations and to be sure ask before changing how much they'd give you for them.It could be stupid but this is the way they won't lie you.
Also in bank is safety.

This clock on Svoboda Square, next the towering Hotel Bulgaria, was formerly the clock of a nearby pharmacy which was demolished in 1985. The clock was relocated to here and is now a popular local meeting place. All three faces tell the correct time and so you've no excuse for being late!
Expositions: Sea Navigation, Antient Times, Thracian Culture, Greek colonisation, Early Christianity, Mediaeval Culture
working hours:
Summer (1st of July -15th of September): Mo-Sa: 9-18h (lunch break: 13.00-14.00) ;
Winter (16th of September - 31th of May): Mo-Fr: 8-17h (lunch break: 13.00-14.00)
The gramophone appeared about 15 years ago. I don't know the artist but I like it. it kind of became one of Burgas' symbols, now they even put it on postcards. You can really turn the handle but unfortunately no music comes out. Kids love to do it over and over again.
When I was still at highschool there used to be a cafe right next to it, called the Gramophone, where we used to hang out and drink beer after school. They played good music too. Now it's replaced by a more shiny and expensive cafe. The desserts are good but the best thing is the location, purfect for people watching as the whole town & guests walk past to go to the Sea Park and the beach.
The poppies flowering, tumbling confusedly
in the sea-wind down the landfall at Bourgas
broke my heart as they cast their fragile blooms
to every which wind that took them.
Their blooms though are steadfast
for the short time they survive.
Their roots are deep
and yearly they flower...
...as a reward for the Martinetzi?
