When we booked, we checked out some reviews to get an idea of the holiday ahead. Most were all doom and gloom with a few good ones aswell. I have to tell you now that this is a fantastic holiday and you have no worries about booking. we never once got chipped glasses or plates, the staff are friendly, never got any bugs while we were there. My 5 year old daughter had the time of her life, and with it being all inclusive she took full advantage. she had everything there was to offer and was never once sick, infact she kept going back for more. the entertainment was first class and the reps really try to get you involved. I also have a 6 month old baby and to make her bottles we had to use the water cooler and we never had any problems. the pools are fantastic and the waterpark is finished and we had great time. my eldest daughter even went down the big slides on her own. my only advice would be to get to the restaurant early and the food is red hot, and do check the chicken, although we only found it once to be undercooked. there is also a kids corner where you can get chips, fish fingers, chicken nuggets, etc. try the desserts, there great. tip for families with babies, take freezer bags and steralising tablets as plugs are very scarce, although we did manage to get one it wouldn;t fit the plug holes. have a walk down to the village and have a look at the potraits, we had one done for £60 which might seem alot but well worth it, absolutely brilliant. at the airport you can only buy duty free with pound, euro and lev, if you want a snacks only lev, no visa which we were wrongly advised on. last review on holiday, do put your towels out early, games throughout day, try the pizza you'll go back for more, try one of borislav's cocktails in the reception bar, and do tip a little but don't feel you have to. the place looks like a palace when you first arrive, very impressive and it didn't disappoint. if your going to change money, take a day to sunny beach as the rate is better and not as much commision as hotel, if you get a taxi ask for venci, dosen't charge until picked up for return, cost £15. as i've wrote this is our review and can't comment on others as we had fantastic time. don't worry and enjoy your holiday.(sheffield)

spent all week on a drip- food poisoned!

by TripAdvisor Member leethomas

Just flown back early as suffered food poisoning all week from this hotel. Spent 2 days on drip, Hotel was disgusting!!
First impressions were great, lovley looking Hotel, but how wrong was I? I ate in the main dining area of the hotel, for breakfast & evening meal. By the 2nd day I had to visit the 24hr on call doctor at the hotel. He immediately put me on a drip & issued me with anti-biotics & painkillers. The First Choice reps were USELESS & were only interested in the commision on trips they would make! The reps advised that 12 people had already suffered the same as me in the last week & said it was ok as there were still 1588 guests unaffected!!! Hotel phone was out of order for first week & after complaining was told "tough"! Outside of complex was a "shanty town" - be very careful if hiring a car as locals are very scary & carry guns! Prostitutes all over the place-not a 4* place in my view!!! Hotel also looks like a building site in parts & wasps are EVERYWHERE!! I do not recommend this to anyone, if already booked, cancel if you can!!!

Hotel and complex great. organisation needs attention

by TripAdvisor Member Jeffreyboy

My wife and I stayed two weeks AI.Place is really good for a beach front chill out holiday. We were going to bed most nights before midnight.Room was clean with a sea view. the maids done a good job. Once we had towels that wasn't cleaned properly but they were changed. If you want your meals without a mad rush and the decent food get in early.Otherwise you wont find a table obtain a cup or get a decent meal.Plates and cups chiped. All the staff keep on doing is dropping and smashing crockery. There are too many people staying here for the resturents size.I suggested parents and kids take first sitting (Fell on Death ears) The reps were good esp kids rep. They put on loads of activities. Sunny Beach is where its at. if we went again will probably go there.Self catering as local resturents are good and cheap. All Inclusive is good for families wishing to save money with kids. But I find qaulity isn't as good as eating out.But where we was it was too far to travel every night.
Acceptable for the price I paid. Every one agreed 2 Star at most.

Good 1st Impression - How Wrong We Were!

by TripAdvisor Member Normalfamily

Our family stayed at the Royal Park in July / August 2006. We arrived at 4am in the morning and were pleased with our 1st impressions, unfortunately it all went downhill from there! Below is an extract from the letter of complaint that I sent to First Choice. This is the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune to stay in although I have to say we made some friends over there and they thought it was fantastic. I would say read the comments below and make your own mind up.

ROOMS
Beds not being made.
Towels not being replaced - used towels removed but not replaced.
Bathroom not being cleaned properly.
Light switches not secured to the walls.
Air conditioning not working properly.

ANADALUSIA ( Main Hotel ) RESTAURANT
Excessive chipped and cracked crockery.
Excessive dirty crockery and cutlery.
Luke warm / cold food, that was meant to be served hot.
Regular undercooked chicken / pork ( my whole family suffered from prolonged upset stomachs for the duration of our stay ).
Dirty table cloths / chairs and tables.
Not enough tables / chairs for the amount of guests ( 430 rooms and only 480 seats in the restaurant - as per Victoria Group web site ), often left standing waiting for a table to become available.

MAIN HOTEL ( Inside ).
Lifts often out of order.
Excessive chipped coffee cups - main bar in reception area.
Horrible smell from main bar in reception area.
Toilets smell disgusting.
Stairwells filthy dirty.

MAIN HOTEL ( Outside ).
Grass area used for ORGANISED FOOTBALL very dangerous - uncovered drain / sprinkler system holes, raised manhole covers in play area.
Pool often murky and with excessive birds droppings in it because of major problems with birds nesting under hotel facias ( Swallows / House Martins ).

ELENITE VILLAGE AREA.
Broken window outside children's games room ( next to internet room ) for the hole 2 weeks we were there.
Dangerous un-guarded drops on roof of Animation Hall.

FIRST CHOICE REPS ( Main hotel )
Welcome meeting - all they seemed interested in was selling excursions / pre booking return flight seats quote "to ensure you can sit next to your loved ones!". Not explaining any of the basics / pitfalls of what the surrounding area i.e. what Nessebar & Sunny Beach had to offer etc, other than recommending the Crown exchange to change money ( we got more useful information from a taxi driver on route to Sunny Beach than the 45 minute welcome meeting ).

FIRST CHOICE REPS ( Entertainment and children's ).
We found The Entertainment reps were excellent and seemed to work exceptionally hard to ensure the guests had a good time as did the Kids reps judging by the comments from people we spent time with during our visit.

I hope some of the people reading this review find it useful.

good holiday

by TripAdvisor Member mia-baz

We went to bulgaria as a first holiday as a couple, we stayed at Royal park for one week all inclusive. The hotel had all essential needs and was very clean, food was average but had good selecton to choose from. The hotel staff were nice although their pace of life is a lot slower which was sometimes frustrating, we had excellent weather and would recommend the bungee jump in sunny beach, a small tip though do not wear a short skirt as can be highly embarrasing as i found out! Taxis to Sunny beach should be discussed before getting into them as they can try their luck be firm and they will come down in price!!all in all value for money and would definately go back!

Absolutely Brilliant

by TripAdvisor Member icemaideninfinitive

We had an absolutely brilliant time here. Ideal complex right on the beach with shops and other restaurants if you on all inc that you can eat at. The one right on the beach is fab. it is run by Hristina and her father they ar great ane cater for you every need. nYour wine glass is empty they fill it up. Hristina is wonderful i still keep in touch with her. There are 3 pools one with swim up bar. The main one with poolside bar. The main hotel restaurant looks over the main pool. There is a water park at the back of the hotel which the kids will love. As most guests arrive late they have a packed breakfast for you consisting of croissant water and apple. The staff are great although many of them speak little english but understand what a vodka and coke is which is great. There is a disco which is quite good and karaoke but they need more songs. There is an irish bar on site but you have to pay in there but that ok if you want to watch the football. The room we had was massive enough to sleep 6 easy. The bathroom was not brill but who cares you are not in your room ages. There is a turkish bath onsite where you can have all sorts of treatments but the turkish traditional bath is not to be missed. There are also huts on the beach where twaineese girls give a great massage. The food is good in the main restaurant and is labelled so you know what it is. But eating in the other restaurants is a must too. Tradtional Buglarian food yummy.
You can only eat in the other restaurants once during your stay but we managed to eat in the Taverna with Hristina twice. My lad really enjoyed the fact that he coould get ice cream whenever he wanted. we took our 16 year old and 10 year old and they ate in the main restaurant more than we did. They do a selection of kids food on the evening ie fish fingers and chips.
At breakfast you could anything from fry up to criossants to cereal.
Some parts of hotel inside are shabby but how long do you spend inside.??? Felt safe enought to say to kids we on beach se you in bit. They could go to the disco at night and we went to one of the bars. They have day and evening entertainment but we did not take part too much as we like to do our own thing.
There is a bus service that takes you to sunny beach for a small charge but its worth paying little extra and havin a taxi but agree a price first. We will deff go back at some point but want to see other places first. Some of other reviews not great but hell some people are just fussy and there is no pleasin them. At end of day for a great family hol with everything at hand this is the place to be unless you earn £1000.00 per week and can afford that even better place. Wish i was there now.

One of the best holidays ever

by TripAdvisor Member H0lidayGuru

One the best holidays ever.

The building work did not bother us at all as it was shielded and noiseless. The rooms were spacious and clean. Clean towels and beds made everyday. The food was nice but a bit repetitive. Children could sit at there own little Barbie table if they wanted with matching Barbie plates and cups. You can also choose to sit outside on the verandah.
First Choice offered a Mini club with activities such as chocolate party for 3 lev's/Jungle adventure where they made binoculars and played Jungle games/Design a label where they make labels and designed dresses. At night there was a mini disco which usually lasted about 45 minutes. After that it was Bingo and then either a quiz or game show. On the beach in the evening there is a bouncy castle 10 lev's and a trampoline 20 levs. Other activities were paint a pot (small charge) and mini golf 30 levs plus 30 levs desposit.
The resort is mainly just a Hotel complex, with Family based facilities and entertainment. Would not recommend for thoose looking for nightlife as we did not see one bar/restaurant.

The waterpark behind the hotel is free and you only pay for the sun bed at 5 lev's at each (but they dont always come round and charge). My 8 year daughter loved the childrens section of the waterpark with its several slides and tipping bucket. My husband preferred the larger 6 slides towards the back of the park.

The beach was lovely where you can easily catch Hermit crabs on the shore bed (dont worry they don't bite your feet). You can also hire Canoes at 15 lev's for a hour for 2 adults/1 child canoe. If you preferred a yaught for the family it costs 40 lev's. Banana boats and pedaloes were available but I dont know how much these cost.

We caught the bus the Sunny beach with cost about 2 levs each, however had to catch a Taxi back as buses were not very frequent 1hr and half wait between buses but could not understand the timetable to work out what time these arrived. Sunny beach has lots of things to do, like hire Motor buggy or 3 seater bike buggy for 10 levs per hour. Motion similators and plently of shops. However much preferred our resort as Sunny beach was scruffy and you get pestered all the time from people selling cherrys and children wanting to show you puppy dogs.

I would definately return to the Royal Park Hotel as it is a safe environment for families wanting family activities.

fantastic, dont listen to any complaints

by TripAdvisor Member AngUk

We went to the royal park 25th may 2007 for 2 weeks. It was one of the best holidays we ever had, everything was fantastic and we couldnt find any faults.
The hotel, the resort, the pool, beach, reps, kids club, food, rooms,. everything totally fantastic.

Some people complained about the food etc, just bear in mind you are going out there to live how they live and not how we do in england. so if you want fish and chips english style stay here..........

My daughter loved it, the kids club adn the reps were fantastic. i cant say enough how good they were.

We are looking to go back again and please do consider it, you will have alovely relaxing holiday.

Enjoy................

xxxxxx ignore negative reviews as great place xxxxxxxxxxx

by TripAdvisor Member sparrowNewcastle

Myself, husband, 6yr old son and 3yr old twins have just returned from a 2 week holiday at this hotel and have already been into a local travel agent to enquire about the cost of next year! We had a fantastic time even though I was a bit wary about what to expect after reading previous reviews. Yes the food was repetitive but it was fine and all of us were far from starving. The rooms were immaculate and cleaned daily with bedding and towel changes daily. I have never seen so many claeners, even brushing sand from the outside steps! The hotel is right on the baech so you have the choice of pool or beach without the hassle of packing up to move around. There is heaps for the kids to do with the frist choice rep day and night entertainment being fantastic and keeping them occupied. I fully expected my children to use the kids clubs but they weren't interested as had enough to do without them. I would recoomend this lovely place to anyone and would go as far to say it was the best holiday I have had.

A good value for money all inclusive holiday

by TripAdvisor Member nickynic2000

We stayed at the Royal Park from 15th June to the 29th of June the party consisted of 2 adults 4 children ages 14, 12, 10 and 4 we had a fab time this holiday was great value for the money we paid yes the food was repetitive but what do you expect with all inclusive food it always is we know this as we have been to 6 diff all inclusive properties including cuba which wasnt a patch on this complex there is so much to do you can go watch the entertainment if you choose or go to the nightclub where children are allowed and where mine wanted to be most of the time at night and in the day you have the pool or the waterpark which is very good for all ages we was lucky as we did stay when there was a freak heatwave with temperatures reaching 46 also you can sit in many diff places to have a drink in the evening so there is something for everyone we had clean towels everyday and the room was very clean i will agree with the reviews of the bulgaria people they are not as friendly as other countries but then hey you dont then tip so save you some more money ha ha we have booked to go again next June as this is a first for me as i have never been back to anywhere twice so it must be ok ha ha dont worry bout all the bad reviews i think some people are just far to picky like i said brilliant value for money and i didnt go stir crazy once like i do at other all inclusive hotels i have been to ha ha
