Hi, as far as I know (haven't been there for a while) there's a bus going from the airport to the main bus terminal. From there you might be able to catch a bus. In worst case you'll have to Transfer in Burgas. Guess it will take 3-4 hrs.

Hi,

Here you are the schedule I took from the Varna Central Bus station. Their phone is: ++359 52 448 349 from abroad, 052 448 349 from Bulgaria or 448 349 from Varna; Unfortunately I didn't ask how long is the travel to Burghaz.

Departure from Varna to Burghaz: 06:45, 08:00, 10:30, 11:00, 14:15, 15:15, 17:00;

I can't help you for the Burghaz-Sozopol part of the way, but these are about 20 km and there should be regular bus transport.

Wish you luck,
Liliya

Travel Tips for Sozopol

Travel Bulgaria - Sozopol

by travel2bg

Make sure to visit the old town. Nearby campings all around the city are also popular for young people and backpackers. For a lesser known place to go and relax, there is a rocky area by the sea in the old town.
review at http://travelbg.blogspot.com/search/label/Sozopol The sea is quite deep here and can be a little rough at times so make sure you take this into consideration if you are not a fairly strong swimmer.

Rozovo/ Turkish Border

by judd21

it an easy day trip from Sozopol to drive down the coast to the border and back. There are many great beaches and towns. This was the town overlooking the Border. It was very interesting. Several new beach houses and some abandoned. It just made for an interesting place

St. Ivan Island

by Gosia78

The island of St. Ivan is situated just 2km away from the old town in northern direction. St. Ivan is the biggest Black Sea island in Bulgarian territorial waters. The island shelters a sonar lighthouse, which together with the lighthouse on the Emine cape shows the way to the Bourgas Bay. Once upon a time, the island hosted a monastery called the Holy Virgin, which was later renamed into St. Ivan Prodromos.
You can get there by taking a boat from port in Old Town in Sozopol.

sozopol holiday

"General impressions."

Sozopol was a much bigger place than I thought it would be.It is a nice place to holiday. At the end of July the town, beaches and restaurants are crowded. There were not many British people holidaying there although there are lots of English real estate offices which perhaps indicates that buying property there may be the fashion.English is spoken a little and menus are generally translated into English which makes life easier. There are lots of young people and young families enjoying the sun and good value shops and restaurants.Accommodation is good ,cheap and was relatively easy to find.
