MY FAVOURITE

by andb35 about BISTRO BILLYS

Bistro Billys is just a short walk from the Iberostar Sunny Beach Resort and we used to frequent this place every night. Billy and his staff are very friendly and make you very welcome. This was our second time in Sunny Beach and over that time we have became very good friend with them all. They are open 24 hours and nothing is a problem for them.

There is plenty of food on offer for everyones taste buds like soups, pizzas, chicken, meats from the spit, lovely shopska salads and cakes and much much more all at good prices(huge pizza is about 7lv if i can remember correctly).

Sit at a roadside table and listen to the music, enjoy your food and drink and watch the world go by. The shopska salad is a must, it is delicious and also the tomato soup is lovely. My kids loved the pizzas (my son made a few of his own) they are so thin, just the way they like them. My husband had some pig off the spit and he said it was really nice. Had so many meals At Bisro Billys and never had a bad one.

What a wonderful hotel!

This hotel definitely receives the thumbs up all round for a great summer holiday. The rooms are well furnished, modern, bright, airy and clean. They are air conditioned, with music options in both the bathroom and main room. Rooms have balconies which overlook the pools. The rooms are well equipped and extremely clean.

The setup of the hotel is good. It consists of two symmetrical buildings each with a set of pools; from large to small - for the children. Loungers surround both pools and there is an outdoor bar and entertainment stage. The hotel is a two minute walk to the wonderful Sunny Beach - a great spot for some relaxation and tanning.

Staffing is excellent. The quality of care provided is high. Staff are friendly, willing and helpful the whole time. Professional, and hard working, the staff will do all they can to make your stay a good one.

The main reception lobbies are lovely, brand new lifts, top quality bars.

Now, onto the food! Well, you won't lose any weight. The food is out of this world and it's difficult to put it into words. The sheer breadth of options is one thing, but to have these options that are consistently high quality, it is wonderful. The food is top quality, the presentation is wonderful. Each day a different meat is on the carvery, along with a whole host of other hot meats freshly cooked infront of you. A range of fresh vegetables always available, salad options - endless, a choice of potato each night, pizza, pasta, good choice for vegetarians also. It goes on. It really is outstanding.

The same for breakfast - marvellous hot and cold buffet that is top quality and always refilled. Desserts in the evening are also wonderful.

At the end of the holiday, I left the hotel with no negative points whatsoever. It is a wonderful hotel which is led and managed very well by the Senior Team. If you take a look through the guest book on the reception desk, you'll see how wonderfully rated this hotel is.

Excellent value for money. We've rebooked again for this year.

This hotel deserved a 5 star status. It was centrally located, the staff where fantasitc, it was so clean you could have eaten off the floors.!!! The food reminded us of the food selection we had on a royal carribean cruise we enjoyed last year, just first class. The reps put on a very good entertainment programme to include all ages, even the older folks on holiday. We booked some trips, avoid the Bulgarian night and the reps show unless you have small kids. if you do book a trip, do it from one of the offices out side the hotel as it is cheaper. The lazy day cruise was great fun but the blue mountain trip was disappointing as it was raining, so we missed ouit on the cable car ride, it also included a lot of carpet making stops which I don't like. Khans tent is a must though, great food and fantastic show.

Excellent Holiday

by TripAdvisor Member VickieRawson

Have just returned from an excellent holiday and really felt the need to let people know what a superb hotel this is.
We were slightly apprehensive as it was our first time in Bulgaria but there was no need to be at all.
The rooms are extremely large and spotlessly clean as is the rest of the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is varied and extremely good - so much so that we actually only ate outside of the hotel once.
There is a range of activities on offer to suit everyone - from bingo to water gym. Although we didn't have children with us there was also several kids clubs which seemed to be doing an extremely good job of keeping the children amused.
Evening entertainment was varied and we really enjoyed all of the shows.
Would highly reccomend this hotel to anyone considering Bulgaria.

Brilliant hotel, great for familys

by TripAdvisor Member camandlana

We stayed here from the 18th of june 2007 and would go back again. This is one of the top hotels in the resort, the room was very large with a partition wall to seperate the kids and a lovely spotless bathroom. The food catered for everyone with local dishes as well as English, German etc .

There are 2 main pools and a couple of smaller ones for the kids but people tend to put towels on the sunbeds early so it can be trickt to get enough sunbeds for the whole family.

Entertainment staff very friendly getting everyone involved with activities day and night.

Weather when we went a scorching 40.c

Great Hotel but........

by TripAdvisor Member 1Papa_Smurf

Don't exchange your money at the reception desk in the hotel lobby! My wife and I exchanged Euro at four different times on the same day and got a different rate each time from the woman behind the counter/
exchange area. The first time she shorted me about .40 l. On the second occasion several hours later she shorted the wife 2l. I exchanged immediately after my wife and got shorted as well. I then confronted the woman and she immediately returned the shortages from
the first occasion as well as the second and third occasions. Several
hours later I again changed some Euros and this time she gave me a receipt. I imagine that either she's keeping the overages herself or hotel management is involved in bilking the guests. I would recommend
money be exchanged only at the Crowne kiosks/ booths (they give a better rate anyway). Other than the exchange issue the hotel and area is fantastic! Would definitely book there again.

Sunny Beach

"Sunny Beach Report"

Hi all Been home since beginning of August and am just getting round to typing this report now. Sorry it's taken so long but here goes. We arrived in Sunny Beach(4 adults, 2 kids aged 12 & 14) late afternoon on the 21st July and the weather was fantastic. Having been last year we were not looking forward to the wait for our luggage but Bourgas Airport seemed to be a lot better this year and we got our luggage and were on our coach within half an hour. Stayed in the same hotel as last year (IBEROSTAR SUNNY BEACH RESORT) and it was just as good if not better, they even have their internet club up and running which was a good addition for the kids. On our arrival at check in we were all given a refreshing glass of orange juice, just what we needed after a hot coach ride. As we were admiring the room and balcony view there was a knock at the door and there stood 3 members of staff, one holding a huge amount of fruit all wrapped up in a bow the other guy had a bottle of wine and glasses and the other had fruit knives and plates and a card which welcomed us back to the hotel. A nice touch and a great start to the holiday. First stop was the lev bar and then to see Billy at Billys Bistro which we frequented every night the year before so ther was hugs all round and we met up with lovely people that we met last year from Holland and home also. It was great to see them all again. The Hotel food was great with a good choice for everyone and they still have sweets to die for. Only had breakfast a few times the 2 weeks we were there as we stayed at Billys too late but what we had was just as good as last year. We did notice however that the hotel was a lot busier this time and we often found it hard finding a table. Rooms were cleaned daily and the third day there we arrived back to our room and noticed the maid had placed a lovely rose on our dressing table. The only downside to the rooms are that the showers still leak so make sure you put down some towels on the floor before you shower. Don't expect a sun lounger while there, they are still hard to get and to be honest we couldn't be bothered getting up at an early hour to get one, you see the same people on the same ones every day i don't know how they do it. Shops seemed to be just the same with all the fake gear but once again the kids loved it and came back with a load of stuff (we had to buy another case) and like the stuff they bought last year, seem to wash really well. Went back to Nessebar and it is still as beautiful as i had remembered it, we took the bus there and the boat back which was a bit choppy but good fun. Went to the beach a couple of times a managed to get loungers no problem and my daughter and i had a go at the paragliding, had never done it before so plucked up the courage this time and am glad i did, it was great fun and couldn't believe the amount of jelly fish we could see you also got a great view of the resort, think it cost us 70lv for the 2 of us. The cost of food and drink hasn't changed from last year we still found a lot of places giving you a beer for a lv we even found one near the market that was only 80 stinkies. Went to D Jannys, great food great service but go early or you won't get a table also had a couple of good chinese meals also. Did't ever have a bad meal out and none were expensive. We were invited to Billys (bistro) birthday party where we were given shopska salad (yummy) and main courses of different meats (even more yummy)and plenty to drink. He had a huge cake (the size of 2 tables)which was delicious and needless to say it was another late night but we all had a fantastic time and we hadn't spent a penny. To sum it all up the weather was great the people were great and the food and drink was great as was the hotel. Another fantastic holiday in Bulgaria, looking forward to going back. Andrea

Burgas - 1500$ enough?

by Leopardos

Hello , im going to burgas from 10 of september till 17 = 7 days
im taking 1500$ , is it enough ?

Re: Burgas - 1500$ enough?

by penny_g

Seems like you will have 200 $ per day at your disposal.

Depends if you have already tickets and accommodation.

Otherwise I would only say that half a liter of beer costs 1.5$. Generous dinner - 3$.

Have a look here:

Salem and cheers!

Re: Burgas - 1500$ enough?

by johngayton

Sunny Beach is more expensive than most of Bulgaria and so reckon on at least double the previous quoted prices but otherwise $1500 should allow you to live it up a little provided you stay out of the casinos. Also don't flash too much money around as there are plenty of touts and other rip-off artists around and beware of the local taxi drivers.

Re: Burgas - 1500$ enough?

by penny_g

Johngayton,

Even in Sunny Beach the prices are quite decent and sometimes cheaper than the capital. Not to mention that the area around the bus station is very priceworthy.

Always arrange the price with the taxidrivers in advance and take advantage of the public transport, which covers all of the resort. Or just use your legs by enjoying a walk along the beach or the promenade.

There are no touts in Sunny Beach, don't worry about that!

Re: Burgas - 1500$ enough?

by GyuriFT

Oh well - for seven days my budget would be rather in $500 range or less, stay at a private accommodation included. But we are extreme cheap-skaters, my mother tongue is Russian and our expectations are geared towards the average

Re: Burgas - 1500$ enough?

by johngayton

"sometimes cheaper than the capital" isn't a very good recommendation LOL! Personally when I'm in Bulgaria I find 50 leva per day (about $30) spending money is more than I need to eat and drink well with. But not in Sofia.

As to touts - beware of people offering to change money for you.

Have a day out in Burgas for a change of scenery from the beach - Burgas is fun and the local bus costs about 5 leva e/w.
