I am travelling to Bulgaria in three weeks and was ready to take sterling with me to change at the banks there. I had read on other forums that it is easy as long as the notes are not defaced in any way. After collecting the tickets from the travel agent she asked if we needed any currency, when I told her she said they have had loads of complaints about changing money there and advised against it. I have already changed a small amount at Marks and Spencers and am unsure what to do with the rest - can anyone advise me??
I would use plastic in your place. There's plenty of cash machines in Sunny Beach. You get the best rate and the withrawal fee will be OK if you get the maximum amount every time you draw cash (currently 200 leva = 100 euro or 400 leva = 200 euro, depending on the cash machine you are using).
