Bunk beds in dormitory by jazezork This is the hostel I've felt most "at home" in, and while I have not tried any other hostel in Sofia to compare, I would definitely recommend this one. A kitchen enables you to prepare your own food. Their laundry, while not free, means you can finally get your clothes washed without handwashing them in a bathroom basin. You can come and go as you please any time of day or night. The shower is hot, and there are two toilets. This hostel opened in 2003. There are two mixed-sex dorm rooms (8 beds and 6 beds), and a double room. Internet access is available. If you let them know ahead of time that you're coming, you can be picked up from the train/bus/airport.
Thist hostel has the most friendly managers -- Ira and Assen go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. They also serve the best, most varied, and biggest (all you can eat) breakfast of any hostel I've experienced. | Hostel Mostel: Worst night's sleep ever

After arriving at the hostel at 1-30am from the airport, we checked in and paid only to find that we were staying in another apartment some 10 minutes walk away. The young man on duty was very helpful and apologetic and showed us the way. On arrival though the beds were awful and had no sheets. The onsuite bathroom had an open window onto the comunnal bathroom which meant we were able to hear all the ablutions of the other guests. After a 20 minutes wait whilst the guy went and brought back some clean sheets, he made up the bed and we promptly went to bed. Since the apartment was on one of the main boulevards of Sofia, we had an awful night's sleep. Taxis, cars and trucks racing down the road outside your room is not nice at the best of times, but the vehicle noise seemed somewhat amplified. We had breakfast back at the main hostel which was fine and set in a nice communal dining area. However, if getting a good night's sleep is important to you, then make sure you check in advance where your room will be. If they say it will be in the apartment on the boulevard, find somewhere else to stay instead. Overall, very overpriced for what you get.
Noisy, unmade beds. Overpriced.
