Described as gay friendly. I'd say just friendly. A nice and friendly hotel. I had a small room, but it was nice too, with wooden floor, well equipped frigidaire, an electrical pot for boiling water, teabags, nescafe, sugar, cups, glasses and everything to make coffee or tea. I had a small balcony too. Not a great sight from there, but it was ok sleeping in the fresh night air with its door open. Friendly service, free internet connection from a computer in the hall. All that for 35 Euros (43 USD) a night. Very clean and confortable. But no breakfast at all. Strongly recommended.
Unique Quality: Fascinating old palace in the heart of Sofia, near the Ladies Market, nice and typical cafes and shops in the street, covered market few steps away, wonderful position.
Directions: Heart of the town, less than 10 minutes walk from Sveta Nedelya, in front of the Synagogue,
Nice staff. Very hip place to stay. Best location for everything.
Unique Quality: Each room has a name of a country in the world. i.e. We stayed at Lisbon room.
Directions: City Center; in front of the biggest Synagogue in Europe.
I stayed one night at Scotty's and totally loved the cozy atmosphere, nice single room with soft bed, good bathroom and own tiny balcony to the yard. I arrived at wee hours due to delayed flight, but the receptionist confirmed to me over phone that they'll definitely keep the room for me and so they did.
The single room (called "Berlin", each of them are named after world capitals) in the photo might look a bit small, but add the balcony and a spacious bathroom and it is quite enough for one person.
Unique Quality: Very pleasant stay at modest price. A versatile breakfast is brought to your room (just remember to order it on previous day!)
