Very ... "OK"

The Sveta Sofia claims to be a four star hotel. It is not. What it is is a moderately-priced so-so hotel, wonderfully situated on Pirotska Street (a GREAT pedistrian mall in downtown Sofia). The hotel is OK - they provide discounted room rates over the weekends. Their breakfast (included) is passable. The staff are friendly, though not very helpful. The rooms are clean, though a bit small. And their internet works!

Don't expect wonders from the Sveta Sofia, but do stay here if you are looking for a moderately priced hotel with a great location!

Unique Quality: Fabulous location! Pirotska Street is where YOU should stay while in Sofia. It is centrally-located and safe.

Central Location

This hotel Is very central and reasonably comfortable but in my experience 4 Stars(awarded? and by whom?) is a bit generous.
With all the staff there in attendance, whether the hotel is busy or not, 3 stars would be more like it but with just skeleton staff there filling in as they were when I stayed here I thought the hotel took on a more of a 2 Star personality.
My Standard room was small with 2 single beds and no view from the window.
Breakfast OK but nothing to write home about with Consentrated orange squash for orange juice.

Location wise the Sveta Sofia Hotel is on a good shopping street with a few bar/cafes and close by I found 3 currency exchange booths. Two offered good tourist rates but the one nearest the main road opposite the market building did not. (Seller be ware)

Centrally located

The hotel was very comfortable - double glazing meant that it was still relatively quiet when I chose to have a siesta even though my room was above a busy part of Pirotska Street. The rooms were clean and bathrooms well-appointed, although carpets were showing signs of needing a good clean. There was an adequate breakfast bar, serving between 7am and 10am and there was also a hotel restaurant, although I did not use this. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable. I would, however, advise against using their airport transfer service - a cab called will be a lot cheaper (from the arrivals hall of the airport it cost BGN 9 (i.e. EUR 4.50) to the hotel by cab. It made a very good base from which to tackle Sofia - it was central and in a pretty safe area - and booking online I paid about EUR 71 a night. The hotel claims to be a 4 star hotel, although the facilities would probably have been closer to 3 star than 4 star. The hotel does have spa facilities, although I did not take advantage of these.

Unique Quality: Location wise the Sveta Sofia Hotel is very centrally located - being only 200m from the Mosque, Synagogue and Market Hall and TSUM and about 5 minutes walk to the Vitosha bd.

A good central hotel

The Sveta Sofia is located in a pedestrian shopping street in downtown Sofia - very quiet in the evenings. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable and clean; staff are polite if rather inefficient. Breakfast was strange - they charged me extra to top up my coffee but not for fried eggs and tomatoes. Go figure.

Unique Quality: Very central.

Monument to Sveta Sofia

by tim07

This statue towers over a busy crossroads in the centre of Sofia, on a spot where once stood a statue of Lenin. It was erected in the year 2000 as a millennial symbol of the city. The golden-skinned & black-robed female figure represents wisdom. She holds a laurel wreath and has an owl perched on her arm.
