One day whilst we were staying here, our room key fob mysteriously changed from a large wooden disc, to a stylish metal tag. After a while, we noticed that the new one had the name of the hotel and 3 stars, whereas the notices outside the hotel had two stars - they had obviously just been upgraded, and it was well-deserved.
Yagodina is a small-ish village in the Rodopi mountains, not far from the Greek border. We had come on a walking holiday, and our expectations were not that high, but our room was very comfortable, with a double and single bed, shower/wc (wet-room style, no shower tray), TV and balcony.
The food was wonderful, with home-made jam, local honey and home-made bread at breakfast, and delicious evening meals cooked with fresh local produce.
There is an outdoor seating area with barbecue (including a spit turned by a water wheel) and wood oven.
