70 Ruski Boulevard, Plovdiv, 4000, Bulgaria
In all fairness my stay was not so bad. But I have to comment on the lack of discipline that is kept whenever rude patrons are guests. We were woken up every night whenever certain guests in our floor returned at 3 or 4 in the morning. Shouthing, swearing, banging of doors, fighting, etc....We phoned reception, but it seems that they knew about them but nevertheless, no one came up to sort them out. Food in this hotel is really good. But, as I said elsewhere, why the hell do they bring in the main course when you have just started to eat the starter?? Another thing that irked me was that their exchange bureau could only change euro/dollars to Lev but not vice versa. This is cheeky to say the least. They would still do profit by a reverse exchange....I do not think the Lev can be used elsewhere outside Bulgaria. OH I almost forgot!!! Safety for patrons - NIL...There are no fire exits. You cannot go down the stairs below the third floor - then, probably you'd have to jump from there in case of fire!!! (This is perhaps due to the first three floors being refurbished, but still, it is a very high safety risk)
Unique Quality: Nothing special...only a two star hotel, but cleanliness is of a very high standard and very efficient. So is the reception and lobby area. Hotel employees smart and friendly, even though sometimes it was difficult to communicate with them due to language problems.
I liked Leipzig Hotel.Nothing expensive and near the Bus Station(650 m.).It has a Lobby Lounge Bar open 24 hours and a round-the-clock guarded parking.
There is a cybercafe at the same street on the way to the Bus station.
Close to the train & bus station
Nice hotel is a convenient spot, short walk from the train station & old town.
Superb service, courteous & cheerful concierge staff.
Large bar with a vast selection of drinks, big restaurant, & huge banqueting/breakfast room, all inter-communicating.
Unique Quality: Tall building, visible & identifiable from some of Plovdiv's hills.
Good breakfast selection, served from 0700-1100 hours.
Some of the rooms (like mine) offer great views over Plovdiv, with the mountains in the distance, and the Russian soldier monument on one of the hills.
Very convenient location for the train station or bus station, maximum 7 minutes walk.
Directions: From the bus station, come out & turn right, at the junction turn right again & carry on past the mini-roundabout, keep walking straight along Russki Blvd. Signposted along the way!

A good splash out for 2-3 stars - Plovdiv
I had arrived at Plovdiv in the dark, driving up from my days drive from Sofia to Rilska Monastery and Bansko - arriving in a city with main roads that composed of tunnels that went under and around the city and following the map was rather difficult - but being on a main road was one of the easiest landmarks to head for - it was advertised in my Lonely Planet as being a good 2 star/budget hotel - I think it must be more like 3 star as right from the reception the service and decor is good quality.
48 euro for a single room, or 93 Leva, or single luxury room as is called by Hotel Leipzig, the reception staff were very helpful - parking was provided in front of reception with ticket and boom gate security.
24 hour reception and bar - with drinks and snacks available all night. As it was my birthday I wanted to try some Bulgarian wine - they directed me to the restaurant supervisor and then to another staff member who is a bit of a wine expert and she totally recommend to splash out on their Khum Traminer - it was 15 euro for a bottle but it really was as excellent as she said it would be.
The room was very clean - with interesting red wallpaper and carpet, and matching red and black with flowers tiles in the bathroom. Huge window with night views - that included fireworks going off at several times - and then daylight views to the old town - only problem was that the hairdryer had been attached to the wall so close to the towel hanger that the hairdryer kept dislodging and starting up with a loud noise. Also the internet connection that was apparently included via the cable I was given would not connect. and when tried to phone reception the phone made no connection. The buffet breakfast that is included is excellent!
