Varna and Odessa

Hi, I am trying to find out whether the ferry service from Odessa to Varna still runs. The latest info (2006!) says that there is one from Odessa on a Friday at 13.00 (arr Varna 22.00). Does anybody know?
And final question - can anyone recommend somewhere to stay in Varna?

Travel Tips for Varna

The Municipal Tourist Info Centre

I personally never had cause to use this info office but it is there for general tourist info on Varna and the surrounding area. It looks pretty chic though and peeking inside there seems to be plenty of brochures and bits and pieces on offer.

I don't know whether it does things like accommodation etc. but having gotten to know Varna a little I'm sure that the staff would be friendly and helpful.

The location is (I think) on Alexander Batenberg Street which is just off the pedestrianised Knyaz Boris 1, not far from the main square.

Roman Baths

On Bulevard Primorski have find another excavation site of Roman baths. These ruins are much smaller than those of the Roman Thermae. The baths here were built in the 4th century AD. The area is closed, but you can see them quite well from the street.

New Italian restaurants

Another new restaurant chain in Varna is Florenza.
The food here is cheap but still excellent, try the pizza and pasta menus,
remember to say "smetkata molya" when you want the bill my favourite is the closed pizza, mmm very filling.

The Dramatic Theatre

The theater has one of the most beautiful buildings not only in Varna but in Bulgaria. Its building started in 1921 and it was designed by the same architect who did the Opera in Sofia.

Nearby is located the the Cathedral and the Marine Club. At plaza in front of the theater there are many cafes where u can chill out if u must. Do not be shocked by the naked gypsy kids dipping au naturel in the nearby fountain...that is their way to chill out in the hot summer days.

The Festival Complex - "FK"

Situated at the entrance of the Seaside garden , it hosts many international events - The "Varna Summer" music fest , an international festival of films dedicated to love / how romantic!!!/ , The International Ballet Competition , the World Biennale of Drawing...
