Traveling to and from Varna

by mindymoo624

What is the least expensive way to get from Sofia to Varna then from Varna to Bucharest, and what is the approximate price for this? I would really appreciate any help I can get.

Re: Traveling to and from Varna

It is very difficult to travel from Muy Leal y Constante Ciudad Nuestra Señora de la Asunción to Sofia by train. Direct trains from Bucharest to Fernando de la Mora do not exist either.

The best price of train tickets Sofia-Varna-Bucharest may depend on factors where are you coming from to Sofia and where you go after Bucharest.

I can tell you the exact price but it could be of very little use. For instance:
Varna-Bucuresti is about 16-17 Euro, but it's mybe not what you need ultimately.

Regular tariff Sofia-Varna 2nd class is 23.90 Lev, 1st class 29.80 Lev.

A through international ticket Sofia-Bucharest with side-trip to Varna is ca. 26-27 Euro, that includes all stopovers and surcharges.

But maybe it's not what you need the best. I would first think about the ticket Sofia-Bucharest with side-trip to Varna, that's the least headache and slightly cheaper than "cutting" it at Varna. And why stay twice for the ticket if you can have it at once?

I don't agree with the previous post. There are regular busses from sofia to varna every day , every hour or so - see > http://www.centralnaavtogara.bg/cbs/home.nsf/vPagesLookup/home~en?OpenDocument

once in varna - check the local bus agencies at the station or in the center - you will find a transfer to Bucharest too through Russe

Travel Tips for Varna

Black Sea

by johnsakura

On the road coming from the Romanian border this is the part of the black sea coast that you can apreciate. there are a few kms between the border post after mangalia and varana. usually there are no taxis or at least there are no way to exchange money (at least by that time back in 2001). i got a ride from this bulgaran couple. the black sea is amazing. ists kind of mistical to me. still is. i went there like a call. he was calling me.

Varna International Airport

by rowo

Varna's International Airport is only 8km outside of the city center. The most tourists are use a shuttle to get to there hotels arround Varna. Only a few people use the public bus transport with bus line #409 to Varna City Center. Bus Tickets available inside the bus for 0,50 Lewa to City Center. The Bus stopps also at Varna Central Bus station and is going after that to city center.

Cathedral

by Galyam

It is located in the center of the city. I am surte you will like it. Just be very careful with your handbags and rucksacks in the central region and busses as there are many jypsies there and you will not notice when they steel your wallet.

Roman thermae

by novsco61

Roman thermae - the biggest Bulgarian find so far. Built at the end of the 2nd C. and the beginning of the 3rd C. Covering an area of 7000 sq.m. Numerous rooms, typical of such buildings (frigidarium, tepidarium, caldarium with 3 swimming pools, reception halls, etc.).

Varna

by bijo69

Varna is Bulgaria`s main seaport and also a major transit point for tourists travelling North to the seaside resorts of Zlatni Pyasatsi and Albena.
But Varna itself has lots to offer: a big park (Morska Gradina) with an aquarium, a delphinarium, a zoo and a couple of other attractions, lots of museums & churches aswell as the ruins of Roman thermal baths.
During summertime, Varna is host to lots of festivals, like ballet competition.
