 | Vidin Reviews | Tips 1 - 10 of 10 | | When I stayed here in mid-April 2008 this brand new hotel wasn't quite finished, nor were its advertised facilities such as its solarium, hot tubs and fitness room up and running - mind you I personally wasn't too bothered about these. I had arrived in Vidin on a drizzly evening without having booked any accomodation beforehand and this was the third hotel I had tried and despite there only being double rooms available (at 60 Leva per night) decided to check in anyway. The woman on reception was friendly, spoke excellent French and a little English and check-in was simple and swift. The room itself was pleasant, light and spacious overlooking the tidily kept and surpisingly peaceful communal area in the middle of the surrounding concrete apartment blocks and whilst simply furnished was perfectly utilitarian. Shower worked, TV worked, the double bed was in fact 2 singles pushed together (but no problems there as I was travelling solo), there was a comfortable sofa, a decent workdesk and chair, extra bedding in the wardrobe, all brand new and functional rather than particularly comfortable. Apart from the place being a little souless and a few snagging repairs needed my only real complaint was the frustratingly patchy internet connection which would be perfect for a while and then totally fade for a couple of minutes before coming back - I was informed that they were it sorting out but that didn't happen during my stay. Whilst I was somewhat dissatisfied with my experience I do think that once the place settles in it should be OK but at the moment perhaps best avoided.
Location is excellent for the town centre, the river front and is a couple of minutes walk from the bus and train stations and very easy to find, so that is a plus. I arrived with humble expectations but this hotel turned out to be a pleasant surprise. it's located in the very center of town and it was very comfortable.
I got a single room and the room was quite spacy (2-person bed) , had airconditioning, a clean albeit small bathroom, and a cable tv. And I can tell you, that after spending 2 weeks on night trains, night buses, hostels and private rooms it feels sooo good! The price was good: I paid 40 Leva, Bulgarians pay less. The best way to get there is to ask locals. Most of them know where hotel Bononia is.

There are already a couple of good reviews of this hotel, but we just had to add ours to the list! We stayed in the hotel while we were looking for a property in the Vidin region. A great deal of work has gone into making the accomodation pleasing to the eye, as well as clean and comfortable, and the location is ideal - a few minutes walk from the Danube and right next to the main square and one of the old town gates. But it's the owners that really made our stay.
In addition to the already-mentioned lovely facilities, we found the family that run it, as well as the rest of the staff, to be friendly, cheerful, warm, and helpful. Everyone worked very hard to make our stay as pleasant as possible, and when they weren't running around making sure the hotel was perfect, we had many opportunities to talk to them about Vidin, Bulgaria, and themselves. Without meaning to gush, we can't say enough good things about them.

Fantastic family owned and managed hotel, just yards from the river Danube. Just minutes from the shops, floating river restaurant, and parks. Great selection of restaurants and culture and many places of interest. As a property owner in Bulgaria and having many visits to lots of areas in Bulgaria My wife and I are proud to tell others of this Bespoke hotel whos owners should be proud in giving such fantastic service. I feel my 30 years in the hotel and catering business still gives me a buzz when you find a gem like this hotel.

Having bought several properties in the vidin region over the last three years i have seen many changes to the infostructure of Vidin town. One such change is the opening of several new hotels in recent months. The Old Town hotel provides a very friendly service with English speaking staff and a well organised layout. Rates for a single per night are 45 leva approximately £15.00 and for a double approximately £25.00 per night. all prices include breakfast.
The old town hotel is situated about 1 minute walk from the river danube and the local park which leads to the baba vida fortress Also in very close proximity is the main vidin square which in turn is surounded by the main shops and banks. The train and bus station is also only 5 minutes away Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: vidin 3700, knaiz boris 1 str.2Phone: +359 94 600 023Directions: Old town districtWebsite: www.oldtownhotel.dir.bg Other Contact: oldtown-vd@abv.bg
