prsut - the local meat
by averageyorkshirejoe
We had heard about this meat before we went and so decided to try it. Its a lovely smoky flavour and really tasty nicer than a lot of the cured meats on offer, and apparently in some regions its unsmoked, anyway i loved it and it features as a starter on a lot of the menus so try it!

Sunsets from the Sustjepan Peninsula
by antistar
Cavtat's southern peninsula is much more rugged. There's a path leading around it, but it's rougher and harder to follow than Rat. There's little in the way of life out here, and the path is not lit. You'll be fine if you head back within an hour of sunset, and you can just wander around the entire peninsula, but you might feel a little lost. If you do walk the full circle, you'll eventually find yourself in a small playpark. Cross it and head towards the hotel and back down to the harbour.
Cimbing to the Mausoleum
by sandysmith
By the side of the monastery you'll come across some stone steps - just keep climbing up and you'll soon reach the mausoleum. Some nice little cafes here with glorious views over the town so you could always stop halfway up if you wish ;-) This is right in the heart of the old town with its beautiful stone houses.
Cavtat, little town near Dubrovnik
by Ipanema_Princess
Something really wonderful happened to me...
I've won a trip to a contest. I always do to contests, especially when it's about travels. And finally...I won. One week to Croatia.
Our hotel was located in Cavtat. I was a calm and nice little town in the area of Dubrovnik.
Croatia was a good surprise. This destination has become a "tourism hit" in the past few years, so I was afraid that it would be all covered with ugly concrete hotels. But no... (not yet ?)
I think Croatia did a really good job. A few years ago, it was still a symbol of war and tragedy. And now they it's the sunny beaches everybody wants to go to. It's a Mediteraean country with a twist of Eastern Europe, a great historical patrimony...and Dubrovnik is a real jewel.
