Where to stay????
by HELEN
Hello!
Any recommendations on where to stay in Dubrovnik? I believe we'd like to stay near Banje beach (I think that's the one near town) Or, is it better to stay near Lapad beach? Or, is it better to stay in town? Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance.

Hi,
We have just returned from Croatia. We stayed in the old town at Villa Flora. It was lovely and so cheap! About 40 Euro including breakfast ( for 2) It was a tiny hotel...only 4 rooms I think. At one stage we were the only guests so we had the breakfast room and kitchen to ourselves. No lobby or person on site...we just let ourselves in and had the place to ourselves!!! The location was wonderful...up one of Dubrovniks narrow steep lane ways with washing hanging from windows (including our own!) Just a few steps from cafes and restaurants and an internet cafe! the room was lovely and clean...with ensuite bathroom. Could not have asked for better. Booked through hostelbookers or hostelworld I think. You'll love Dubrovnik! I would stay in the old town and walk around to the beach...its all very close.

Hi there,
I have been to Dubrovnik twice and stayed in the great same place - absolutely beautiful, clean, and very short walk to several beaches including Lapad Beach and the fantastic Copa Cabanna Beach near Babin Kuk in Lapad. I can highly recommend you a place to stay - check it out at the link below for details and reservations

The accommodation prices in and around Old Town Dubrovnik are usually higher that other areas in Dubrovnik. Lapad peninsula is a popular area and there are many private accommodation and hotels available.

Latest laundry technology
by Assenczo
For a glimpse of the local customs, a walk on the walls would do. The best way to dry up laundry in this dry climate is to hang them outside. On the contrary, a bunch of hospitality sheets cramped in a stone/cement house are bound to inflict a mould attack on the premises with unpredictable consequences. In short, it looks cute, authentic and fresh!
Snježnica
by danijelita
If you like claiming the mountains, the Snjeznica is the right place.
First there is a way to the village Kuna , and you can get there with the car, and continue on foot.
It is not easy to clime but it is worth it, at the top St. Ilija the view is beautiful and you can see the Montenegro.
The Boat...
by coceng
Kolocep is a car-free island. Not even motorbikes are aloowed on here. Maybe you can do your rollerblading thing but I doubt that you could find a flat surface.
The vegetations on the island is sub-tropical, pine trees, cactus even could grow on here.
If you want to escape the hustle & bustle of Dubrovnik, make your time to reach Kolocep island.
On the photo, you can see the excursion boat I took. The one on the left...it's a nice boat, with a captain, he's funny & 2 helpers of him to prepare our meals !
Genuine craic agus ceol
by youngwan about Becketts Irish Bar
Becketts is the only real Irish bar in Dubrovnik, it's owned by a couple from Dublin. The atmosphere is welcoming and genuinely Irish. Great music and a mix of tourists and locals. There is a large outdoor terrace which is perfect for sitting and watchin the world go by. Best pint of Guinness I've ever had abroad. I watched the Leinster v Toulouse game and the craic was mighty.
Live football and GAA all summer, word is it's the only place to watch the World Cup this summer. no dress code
