Berkeley Hotel

A great hotel only a short walk from the bus and a quick trip into Dubrovnik. Shops and restaurants are also very close. A nice breakfast is included.

Unique Quality: Newly built and opened in 2007, the Berkeley Hotel offers a unique combination of 24 modernly furnished rooms and suites (apartments) and is conveniently located in Gruz Harbour making all areas in and around Dubrovnik easily accessible, whether going to explore the historic Old City or making a dash to one of the nearby Elaphite islands

More about Berkeley Hotel

Best part of Dubrovnik

by TripAdvisor Member JezandStacy

After a long flight and a tumultuous bus ride into the New Town, we were pleased to arrive at the sparkling clean, Berkeley Hotel. The staff were friendly and the reception and rooms were spotless.
The hotel is located a short bus ride or 20-30 minute walk from the Old Town, but in our opinion you will find better restaurants just down the hill from the hotel, across from the port.
The hotel restaurant is not a bad option either. The breakfast is decent, but nothing special.
They have one computer in the lobby and you can purchase internet time, or for a bit more you can purchase WiFi in your room.

Wonderful hotel and very nice staff

by TripAdvisor Member Mrs_Buffy

Very spacious and neat room. Friendly and helpful staff, helped us with our day trip planning even before we arrive. If you plan to join some excursion tours, one of the usual pick up spot is at the port, which is no more than 5 minutes down the road. There is a big supermarket next to the port, so very convenient if u need to pick up junk food, bottled water etc.

For the price it charges, it is a perfect little hotel.

Great Hotel, excellent staff and atmosphere

by TripAdvisor Member konikov

I had booked this hotel, after reading the reviews on trip advisor.

The hotel is a small family run business, and has a combination of rooms and apartments - As I was travelling with family it was really useful to have the extra space of the apartment, which had a bedroom, great bathroom with powerful shower and a living room with kitchen, which was very useful for preparing drinks to have on the huge baclony overlooking Gruz harbour!

My only concern before we left was the fact it was not in the Old Town, but this was really not a problem. You can get the bus from the port (3 mins walk) and it takes about 10 minutes - very easy and to be honest it was good not to be stuck in the old town every day, as it gets very busy. Gruz is also very easy to get to the beaches in Lapad and boats to all the islands.

The staff are exceptional and will help you with all your requests.
I would definetly recommend this hotel. (Ask for a room with a sea view)

Nice Hotel, Bad Location

by TripAdvisor Member Scotty065

After reading the reviews on T.A., we booked the Berkeley Hotel for a four night stay. Although clean, with friendly staff and large rooms, the location was terrible, requiring a 10 minute bus ride to the old city. Walking was not really possible. Also, after reading a review about restaurants near by, we couldn't find one decent restaurant, nor did the hotel staff know of any good local restaurants. Also, beware of the four day cancellation policy, which seemed a bit strict given the normal is 48 or 72 hours. If you want to stay near the ferry terminals, this is a terrific location.

Aparthotel

by TripAdvisor Member Sofajones

This was a very pleasant aparthotel type of affair. Both rooms were spacious even with the sofa bed pulled out. It was clean and seemed relatively newly fitted out.

The service was very friendly. Breakfast selection was really good.

The hotel is located approximately 15 minute walk west of the Old Town but it is quite a pleasant walk if you go down to the quay then in.

Thought this was generally reasonably priced for the standard received.

Berkeley was perfect location for us

by TripAdvisor Member Twotravel_8

Stayed at the Berkeley mid-May for 1 week. It was the perfect location for us as we had our own vehicle to explore the Dubrovnik area. Parking is provided at the hotel, with easy access to and from the main highway. 10 minute city bus ride into the old city wasn't an issue for us as it seems to be with other reviewers. The harbour is a 3 minute walk away to catch buses/boats for excursions.

Our room was equipped with all modern conveniences, was very large, had a king-sized bed and was very clean. Had access to large patio.

Staff was exceptional!!!, they were extremely helpful and strive to create a very welcoming atmosphere for their guests.

Highly recommend the Berkeley and would stay there again.

Great hotel with attractive rates

by TripAdvisor Member ochy82

This is a fabulous hotel right by the port in Dubrovnik. The rooms are stylish and modern and even have basic kitchen facilities - amazing for the price (about £70). The room had everything you could ever possibly want and more - lovely bathroom, thousands of TV channels, balcony, loads of space for your clothes etc. It was also the only double room we had on our trip which actually had a double bed and not two twin beds shoved together.
The front desk were incredibly helpful and friendly and internet access is available on a PC in reception (although it's expensive).
The only real bad point about this hotel is its location, it's not really near anything except the port. Although everywhere in Dubrovnik is a bus ride from the old town, the hotels on Babin Kuk are a much better choice for families or beach lovers. This hotel is more suitable for business travellers, and it doesn't have a pool.

Best hotel we`ve ever stayed in !!

by TripAdvisor Member Louise023

A really fantastic hotel with extra large rooms, all beautifully furnished with the highest quality fittings throughout...but it was the wonderful staff (all family) that made our holiday even better.Nothing was too much trouble for them from giving advice on what to see and where to go etc. (the owner even gave us all a lift into town on a rainy night ,lending us his umbrella)
Maria the owner`s wife made us delicious breakfasts and this was served in their restaurant by the lovely aunt Marianna & very professionally too.
The hotel was absolutely spotless and a sheer delight from the moment we arrived... thank goodness I found it on T/A because I`m sure we`ll be back next year,it just does n`t get any better .
The airport transfers organised for us by the hotel in their smart Mercedes people carrier were spot on too and very reasonably priced. ... I could go on and on!!

Dubrovnik's best value by a mile

by TripAdvisor Member Hrvat

Stayed here for a night in June and had a fabulous stay

pro's
- Modern designed apartments (unusual for Croatia)
- Flat screen TV
- Beautiful bathrooms
- Best breakfast in Croatia. I had fruit and an omelet cooked on request at no extra charge.
- All staff very very friendly which was nice for a change.
-Our room had a balcony with sea views

con's
- Slight distance to old town however close to the main bus station and supermarkets. The old town is very expensive and crowded so in a way it was nice to get away.

Will definetly stay at the Berkeley again

Regards
Darin
