Dubrovnik Bed and Breakfast is located in a restored medieval house about 15 meters from the Ploce Gate of the old city. We booked two rooms on the third floor, which offered amazing views of the bay and the old town. The rooms were very simply furnished, but clean and comfortable. Our two rooms shared an en-suite bathroom.
We booked this room in advance via the Internet. The owner picked us up at the Dubrovnik airport and drove us into town, which was a big plus, considering how expensive Croatian taxis are. He also gave us a short tour of the old city, complete with rather emphatic recommendations of where we should eat, what ice cream was best, what shops were rip-offs, and so on. This was mildly helpful, but we didn't feel that we were getting a truly objective viewpoint!
We loved the location of this place, but the price was quite high for the quality of the room. We paid almost as much for this place as we had paid for a much nicer hotel in Zagreb. The owner was also rather insistent on being paid, in cash, on the first day of our stay. He actually escorted us to the ATM machine to get the money. It was a little unnerving.
Unique Quality: The name is pretty misleading--Dubrovnik Bed and Breakfast does not, in fact, offer breakfast! However, it was very easy to buy a fine and inexpensive breakfast right downstairs--there's an excellent cafe on the first floor of the building, and a small grocery store right across the street where you can buy fruit, bread, cheese, yogurt, and anything else you might want.
