Tips

I have just booked Radisson Blu in Dubrovnik for 10days end of August on booking.com. I just saw it is 10KM from old Dubrovnik town. Is it very far out? Is there much things to do around the hotel area? How long/how much would it cost to go into Dubrovnik town?

Thanks a mill!!

Louise

Dubrovnik is about the old town. 10km appears a long way out. If you want to relax by the pool it may be ok at the Radisson.

We stayed on the Peninsular, many resorts, 5 minutes by taxi to old toun or 10 minutes on local bus.

Check out my page to see what is on offer.
Good Luck,
Mike

Arriving at Dubrovnik by the airport your onward journey to the walled city will invariably be via the high coast road and as you approach you get these wonderful visitas of Dubrovnik old town jutting out into the adriatic. A great way to start a visit here.

Dining in Dubrovnik

by sandysmith

Well we had such good food in our hotel we didn't get to dine out in Dubrovnik - but if you do eat out here you will be spoilt for choice. Virtually all the long alleyways behind (running parallel) the main street are crammed with inviting eateries spilling out onto the narrow passageways - mainly fish and italian food from what we saw. Lunch or dinner is a delight here - but at city prices too :-S

Don't forget . . .

It's hot in Dubrovnik in the summer and mild in the winter. I was here in February and it was pleasant during the day. I was fine walking around with a light sweatshirt, but a jacket would come in handy at night. Be sure to bring your best photo equipment. Pictures of Dubrovnik were the main reason that I decided to visit Croatia and I'm sure I'm not the first person to be so enticed. The city is beautiful and the light is great as it reflects off of the pale stone. A polarizing filter will come in handy and a decent telephoto lens will also help.

Lokrum 1

by xeberus

The tiny island of Lokrum (shown in the distance in the photo) has a lovely nude bathing area. It's made up of huge rock slabs where you can stake out a spot and enjoy the sun and the sea au natural. Please be aware that in a town that has no established gay scene, Lokrum's beach has helped fill that void, so there is a degree of gay cruising going on. If that is your thing, this may be the place for you. If not, either ignore it or stay away.

Singing in the street....

by kia81 about In the old town, inside the walls

In Dubrovnik the old town is crowded of people from all the world both night and day...
We were 7 friends, we stopped in a corner and started dancing and singing, some people began to stop watching our gig.
Then some people started giving us some Lipas (local coins, smaller than Kuna) for joke and we met a lot of people from all Europe and also form America..Finally we were 20/25 people and we had a lot of fun together singing, dancing or just talking about our country, our costums and so on...
Itwas so funny and interesting!! You can dress like you want, you have to be just yourself!!!
